Jamie Foxx is reportedly considering legal action over the glass-throwing incident at his birthday party earlier this month. Per TMZ, the 57-year-old actor was celebrating his birthday at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills on December 13, when someone flung a glass at his face.

Foxx was with friends and family at the time when, at one point, an altercation broke out between his group and another present at the restaurant. As a result of an ensuing attack, Jamie Foxx "had to get stitches" near his mouth where the glass hit him, according to Daily Mail.

A spokesperson told Los Angeles Times,

"Someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth," adding that "the police were called and the matter is now in law enforcement's hands."

As reported by Complex, Jamie Foxx at the time was with his daughters, Corinne and Anelise Foxx, and his ex, Kristin Grannis, when the fight broke out. Things escalated when the perpetrator allegedly flung a glass at the actor. Per TMZ, the assailant has yet to be identified, though cops are looking into getting in touch with Jasper Dolphin, a Jackass stuntman.

Per the outlet, the actor is "fully cooperating with the investigation," and "wants to press charges, so this type of incident does not happen to others." The outlet claims that cops are now in possession of surveillance footage from the day of the incident, obtained from the restaurant.

As for why the fight broke out, the outlet claims someone allegedly used a laser to project a lewd image onto his table, drawing Foxx's ire. He then purportedly approached the pranksters to put an end to it. However, one thing led to another, and someone threw a "heavy drinking glass" at the Texas-based entertainer.

Per Daily Mail, the Beverly Hills Police Department issued a statement the same day, noting they responded to calls involving an assault with a deadly weapon at around 10 p.m., though it was later dismissed.

"Instead, the incident involved a physical altercation between parties,' said a department statement. 'The BHPD conducted a preliminary investigation and completed a report documenting the battery. No arrests were made."

Two days later, the 57-year-old actor took to his Instagram to state his piece:

"The devil is a lie. Can’t win here—thank you to everybody that pray and check on me. When your light is shining bright—they try to bring you darkness—but they don’t know that you’re built for it—the lights have been shining bright.

He also thanked his patrons for bumping up the streams on his latest comedy special, which dropped on Netflix on December 10:

"Huge thank yous to everyone that have watched and been inspired by What Had Happened Was,” Jamie Foxx continued. “Number 1 on @netflix if you haven’t checked it out, please go check it out it’s from my heart and my soul.”

Multiple outlets have reported that the incident involving Jamie Foxx and an alleged assailant is now being looked into, as investigators are currently gathering data and executing probes.
