Golfer Brooks Koepka has announced his departure from the LIV golf tour. He joined the league in 2022 and had a year left in his contract. As per a statement from his team:

“Brooks Koepka will be stepping away from LIV Golf. He is deeply grateful to Yasir Al-Rumayyan (the governor of the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund, (LIV CEO) Scott O’Neil, and the LIV Golf leadership team, his teammates and the fans.”

The statement continued:

“Family has always guided Brooks’ decisions, and he feels this is the right moment to spend more time at home. Brooks will continue to be a huge supporter of LIV Golf and wishes the league and its players continued success. Brooks remains passionate about the game of golf and will keep fans updated on what’s ahead.”

The news comes months after his wife and actress Jena Sims shared that she lost her baby in a miscarriage. Sharing a carousel on Instagram on October 16, she wrote that when she was 16 weeks pregnant, she found out that the baby’s heart had stopped. She said this was a pain no parent could ever be ready for. She explained that the family was heartbroken but still hoped to have another child for Crew in the future. She further wrote:

“Too often, these struggles happen in silence. There is still so much work and research needed to better understand and support women’s reproductive health. If you’re experiencing or have experienced pregnancy loss or infertility, please know you are not alone.”

Talor Gooch calls Brooks Koepka "one of the greatest competitors in the game"

According to Sports Illustrated, Brooks Koepka’s position as the captain for the LIV team will now be taken over by American Golfer Talor Gooch. He penned down his thoughts about the transition and praised Koepka, writing:

“I want to start by thanking @BKoepka. He is one of the greatest competitors in the game and I have learned so much from him while being his teammate on Smash GC. He's a friend and teammate, and I have great respect for his decision. I wish him, Jena, and their family all the best.”

Gooch mentioned that he was excited for the opportunity. He said that it was not only a new membership but also a career challenge. Mentioning Brooks Koepka, he wrote:

“I'm eager to build on the competitive standard Brooks established and work with our players to lead this team into this next successful chapter.”

Last month, Jena Sims shared a video on Instagram. In the caption, she jokingly wrote that marriage was all about compromise. She wrote that Brooks Koepka liked the Panthers games while she preferred the Miami Heat. She wrote:

“So we go to Heat games.”

Brooks Koepka spoke to Claire Rogers on "@golfcom" in 2024. During the conversation, when asked how he became a golfer, Koepka said he only wanted to hang out with his father and brother. His father liked to play golf.
