Jonathan Lipnicki, who rose to fame as a child actor in the 90s and later transitioned into a career as an executive producer, recently shared a career update. In an exclusive interview with People Magazine, the "Stuart Little" actor talked about the reason he stepped away from Hollywood and the plans he has for his career in the near future.

Jonathan Lipnicki began his career at the age of six, when he was cast as Ray Boyd, the son of Dorothy Boyd, played by Renée Zellweger in the movie "Jerry Maguire." He went on to star in a series of other successful films, but took a break in the early 2000s to focus on high school.

More about Jonathan Lipnicki, as actor shares career update

In his latest interview with People Magazine, Jonathan Lipnicki reminisced about his early start in Hollywood and reflected on how the transition from a child actor to an adult actor has, in many ways, been challenging. He said:

"I had some really good things that happened when I was younger. It's totally fine to say I'm not where I want to be career-wise. Everything we're doing in this life is nearly impossible.”

Jonathan Lipnicki added that he had a wonderful experience growing up in the industry, as he was allowed to play mischievous characters, which in turn helped him feel empowered. He said:

"As an actor growing up in this industry, you want to be on your best behavior, and I got to be on my worst. There was something empowering about that in a weird way.”

In a 2022 interview with Slash Film, the "Dr Dolittle" actor recalled how there was a time when he was unable to find work, which prompted him to focus more on high school.

"The biggest transition for me was... I didn't work for a long time. And people always frame that as, "Oh, I went to high school," and whatnot. And that's the story that people tell sometimes when they don't work. Or if they're a child actor or whatever, they took time off. I did take time off, in the sense that it wasn't the only priority I had. But I didn't work because I just didn't work. I didn't really get any roles for a while."

In the same interview, he shared how, with time, he has developed a passion for writing. He said:

"I started writing recently. And I would love to continue to explore that and do something with one of those where I get to act in it."

In his interview with People Magazine, Jonathan Lipnicki revealed that since graduating from high school, he has taken acting classes to sharpen his skills, adding that he has also taken on different kinds of movie projects since then. He said:

"I've had half-and-half in my adult career where there are some things that were really good and nobody saw them."

Lipnicki, who now also focuses on behind-the-scenes work as an executive producer at Buffalo 8, further added:

"To be quite honest, I said no to about five movies in the last year. I just really want to turn this ship around.”

Lipnicki further added that he is still passionate about acting and believes that one must truly believe in their dreams, and that will take them in the right direction. He said:

“This is the thing I want to do for the rest of my life, and I think you just have to believe it's going to happen and do everything in your power to take action in the right direction,”

"The Little Vampire" actor further added that he follows his own advice, and is confident that the "best is yet to come" for him. He said:

"And I pray every night for clarity on where I need to go, and I'm confident the best is yet to come for me. And I think you just have to believe that. If you're going to pursue this, you're doing yourself a disservice not to dream big.”

Jonathan Lipnicki currently stars in the reality show "Joe Schmo Show," hosted by Cat Deeley, which follows a real participant who is made to believe that he is appearing on a real reality show, but all the other contestants are actors who are just pretending to be competitors on the fictional show.
