What happened between Josh Charles and Travis Kelce? Actor reveals why he used a slur for the NFL star on Taylor Swift's music video set

Actor Josh Charles shared his thoughts about why he called Travis Kelce a “D*ck” while they were present during Taylor Swift’s Fortnight video shoot. On January 6, Charles appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where the host mentioned that Charles was a VMA winner. He added that the actor was also in Swift’s Fortnight video. Charles said:

“I got my Moon Man, dude. Put some respect on my name. I got a Moon Man. It was pretty cool. I did an interview recently. They were like, ‘Well, was that something you ever wanted?’ I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ That Video Music Awards when I grew up was the thing. I mean, I actually went to them once as a kid. Like, I love the Video Music Awards. So, the idea that that came just, you know, just speaks to what an incredibly generous, awesome person Taylor Swift is.”

Jimmy Fallon then mentioned that Ethan Hawke once said in some interview that Josh Charles got into a fight with Travis Kelce on the set. Charles said that this was a bit of exaggeration as it was not a fight. He said he liked Travis, but that year, Kelce’s team beat the Baltimore Ravens at the AFC Championship. The actor commented:

“He was a real j*rk that year. And so, you know, I kind of fell off of him. So, when I met him, I said, ‘You know I always liked you. And this year you were kind of a D-I-C-K.’”

How did Travis Kelce react to Josh Charles?

Jimmy Fallon was taken aback by what Josh Charles told Travis Kelce. According to Fallon, Kelce was one of the most “lovable people.” Meanwhile, following the confrontation, Travis Kelce laughed at Charles. Remembering what the NFL player told him, Josh Charles said:

“And he laughed. He was like, ‘You know what? You're right.’ He goes, ‘I'm going to tell you why, because we marked down that game against your team as the if we could win that game, we were most worried about that game then I knew.’ So he's like, ‘I had to come in with some swagger.’ And he did.”

Josh Charles also said Travis Kelce’s team got one of the Ravens’ veterans to commit a “personal foul.” He mentioned:

“You know he got in our heads and it worked for them. And they won the game. He was actually great. I mean, we talked all different kinds of football.”

The actor said that he liked Travis Kelce but won’t mind rooting against him.

Elsewhere during the conversation, the actor said that his family enjoyed a nice holiday. They went away for an outing and adventure. Josh Charles shared that they did ziplining, about which Jimmy Fallon said:

“I went to Costa Rica and I ziplined through the jungles. I was like, ‘Let's just hang out by the pool.’ And my kids wanted to zipline. I go, ‘No, this is this is fun here. This is just in a pool, it's fun.’”

Jimmy Fallon added:

“And I feel like I'm too old to zipline. You know, but I did it. The ziplining was fine, but then I had to do a ropes course. It was the worst thing I ever did in my entire life. I had this little helmet on, and you're walking over like a rickety bridge, and like, it's like a every step is, like, two feet away or something.”

Josh Charles mentioned that he also did a similar thing. Meanwhile, Fallon said that while he was doing that, he got delirious and struggled to go further. Charles said that he found the experience quite dangerous and considered himself more of a “waterpark” guy.
