Kate Beckinsale paid tribute to her late mother Judy Loe, on Instagram who passed away on July 15, 2025, at the age of 78 after a long struggle with stage 4 cancer. Other than being Kate Beckinsale's mother, Judy Loe was also a well known English actress. She played a huge role in her daughter's life.

In heartfelt Instagram post on September 5, Beckinsale included images and videos from her mother's celebration of life, which was held at Chiswick House and attended by friends, family, and coworkers. She wrote:

“Dearest Mama, the fact that you have had to have a funeral at all is wrong and ludicrous."

She described Loe as “the biggest lover of life, the most energetic, the most vital, the most joyous.”

As requested by Loe, the occasion was a celebration as opposed to a funeral. She had asked that her funeral be a joyful occasion and that no one wear black. The guests complied and Beckinsale herself donned one of her signature big bows with a white strapless dress. She wrote:

“The only mandate you gave me over the years was that you wanted a celebration of your life and that no one was to wear black—so no one did.”

The celebration had doves which were relased into the sky, music was played and the people danced to it. Beckinsale wrote:

"Everybody danced -from the age of 3 to their mid 80s. Your school friends attended, my school friends attended, Lily's school friends attended. The love you inspired, quietly and generously was awe-inspiring and still is."

The actress also mentioned that she had hardly slept on an uncomfortable sofa for two hours the previous evening and that the stress of her loss almost prevented her from going.

It was only when she saw the love that everyone had for her. She wrote:

"I was afraid I couldn't handle it ,was that someone would be able to have a funeral that was so full of love and happiness and joy, which is all because of you and who you are and what you brought."

She added:

"She died the night of July 15th in my arms after immeasurable suffering. I have not picked all the best photos, nor the best videos, because I cannot bear to go through my camera roll yet.
