Former Penn State receiver Julian Fleming has been injured in a car crash that claimed the life of his girlfriend, Alyssa Boyd. According to People Magazine, the couple was traveling in their ATV through Colombia township in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, at night on 24 May when a deer jumped in front of the vehicle, causing it to swerve and leading to the fatal crash.

Julian Fleming rose to prominence as a wide receiver who went on to play for Ohio State University before transferring to Pennsylvania State University in 2023, where he played for the Nittany Lions. Last month, in the 2025 NFL Draft, Julian Fleming was selected by the Green Bay Packers as a free agent. However, according to reports, the offer was rescinded after Fleming failed to clear his physical because of his past back injury.

According to People Magazine, Julian Fleming and his girlfriend, Alyssa Boyd, were traveling in a remote part of Bradford County on a Yamaha quad in the evening when they were involved in a head-on collision with a deer that jumped onto the street. As reported by multiple sources, the couple was not wearing any safety gear. Alyssa Boyd, who was a student at the University of Alabama, was sitting in the passenger seat and was declared dead at the scene of the accident by the first responders.

The official police report read:

"This crash occurred on Painter Lick Lane in Bradford Township, Columbia County. An ATV was traveling northbound on Painter Lick Lane when it collided with a deer that had jumped out in the roadway. Neither of the occupants were wearing safety equipment."

It added:

"The operator of the ATV sustained serious injuries and was transported to Guthrie Troy Community Hospital. The passenger sustained extensive injuries from the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A recently deceased deer was located on scene consistent with damage observed on the ATV."

According to the local authorities, the body of a “recently deceased deer” was found at the site of the accident, which has been described by the authorities as being "consistent with damage observed on the ATV.

Julian Fleming was later taken to the Guthrie Troy Community Hospital, according to the New York Post, but was later released. An investigation into the exact cause of the accident is currently ongoing. No official statement from either Julian Fleming or Alyssa Boyd's families has yet been released.
