What happened to Kate Gosselin? Former TV personality opens up on her financial struggles and why she still has to work

Reality television star Kate Gosselin has recently opened up about the difficulties she’s facing at this stage of her life, especially the financial woes that have plagued her since her divorce from husband Jon Gosselin.

She claims that mounting lawyer fees from the divorce proceedings, as well as custody hearings and providing for her children, have left her in financial ruin 15 years later. When a comment on social media asked where all her income had gone, Kate Gosselin provided full transparency in her response,

“Honestly? Providing for 8 kids, college funds which I am proud to say covered all of their college and more and LAWYERS. Sickening but I was drug [sic] into court constantly and that costs A TON. Sad bc my kids could have a lot more saved and I could have a retirement saved if it weren’t for lawyers :(.”

In response to another commenter, Kate seemed to take comfort in the fact that at least her children would be taken care of for the foreseeable future,

“My kids got a good college fund, a beautiful home and private school. The lawyers got the rest of it. I don’t have a retirement savings. Reality tv doesn’t pay as well as it should when you have to provide for 8 kids on your own.”

It’s widely reported that her ex-husband Jon Gosselin has little to no contact with the children at this junction of time.

Kate Gosselin gets candid on life after divorce

In a recent video uploaded to TikTok, Kate Gosselin shared the latest part of her journey via social media. In the clip, she details how she works as a pediatric home health care nurse and highlighted what her workday usually entails,

“It was another 12 hour day, and my patient and I did a bunch of things. We went all the things together. We went to a birthday party. We played in the water. We spent a lot of time outside. My patient wants to spend time outside, and I, of course, did all of the medical care as well, feeding, bathing and all the things.”

She continues,

“And so now I work again tomorrow, so I have my dishes loaded into the dishwasher, my dishwasher running, and so I can go to bed and get up early and do it all over again.”

While the circumstances that got her here are certainly unpleasant, it's nice to see that Kate Gosselin is embracing her new reality and using the opportunity to lend a helping hand to those who need it most.
