Lil Nas X has been hospitalized after a suspected case of facial paralysis.
The Montero singer, 26, took to social media to share a video of himself from his hospital bed, showing fans how he can't move the right side of his face.
“When I smile, this is me doing a full smile right now by the way… it’s like, what the f–k. I can’t even laugh right, bro. What the f–k! Oh my god. So… oh my god, bro. So… yeah,” he says in the video.
Fans began speculating quickly, with many praying for his speedy recovery. Some speculated that he had Bell's Palsy.
According to The Mayo Clinic, “Bell’s palsy is a condition that causes sudden weakness in the muscles on one side of the face. Often the weakness is short-term and improves over weeks. The weakness makes half of the face appear to droop. Smiles are one-sided, and the eye on the affected side is hard to close.”
However, Lil Nas X later took to his Instagram Stories to affirm that he's doing just fine:
“Guys I am ok!! Stop being sad for me! Shake ur a** for me instead!” he wrote. He added, “Imma look funny for a lil bit but that’s it.”
Lil Nas X says working with Taylor Swift was not his "vibe": Read more
Lil Nas X made waves in the industry back in 2018 after he dropped his track Old Town Road. The country-style rap song dominated the Billboard Hot 100 charts for 19 weeks between April and August 2019. The following year, he nabbed two Grammys, one for Best Music Video and one for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
By 2022, he had been nominated at the Grammys for Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Album of the Year, and he also stood as a contender for International Artist of the Year at the 2022 Brit Awards.
This February, however, The Sun reported that the star had fired his manager, Adam Leber. In a recent TikTok video, he claimed he was in his "flop era" as he seemingly went unnoticed in New York.
More recently, he released new tracks from his upcoming second studio album, Dreamboy, just last month. At the time, Lil Nas X revealed that he nearly collaborated with Taylor Swift when it came to producing music, but his efforts eventually turned futile.
“We were working on something,” he told E! News in late March. “She offered to let me try a verse on something, but I couldn’t catch a vibe for it, so it didn’t happen.” He added: “When it happens… Global. World. Tay-tay and Nassy.”
While it may not have been his "vibe" right now, the Atlanta rapper had nothing but good words for Swift in his E! interview.
“I’m proud of my girl,” he said. “I love the album. She’s been doing her thing. She’s at the very tippety top. I’m thankful that she even considered me.”
At the time of writing, Lil Nas X has yet to reveal his diagnosis.
