What happened to Matt Lucas’ partner Kevin McGee? Little Britain star shares regret over not having kids with late ex-husband

Matthew Richard Lucas, commonly known as Matt Lucas, rose to fame after creating and starring in the British sketch comedy series Little Britain. The British writer, actor, and comedian co-created the 2003 TV show with David Walliams. In one of the recent episodes of his podcast, Making a Scene, which he co-hosts with Walliams, he made an emotional confession. The 51-year-old Matt shared that one of his biggest regrets in life is that he never got the opportunity to be a parent.

Matt Lucas, who also starred in the mockumentary comedy TV series, Come Fly With Me (2010), alongside David Walliams, was married to the late British television producer, Kevin McGee. According to The Guardian, they were together for three years before they got married in 2006. After entering into a civil partnership, Matt Lucas and McGee split in 2008, after 18 months of togetherness. A joint statement was released by both of their lawyers that read:

"It is with sadness that Matt and Kevin announce that their relationship has come to an end. They ask the press to respect their privacy at this time and to exercise restraint in any reporting of this matter."

As Matt Lucas and McGee's marriage came to an end, their civil partnership was also dissolved in the High Court. However, in an unfortunate incident, 10 months after their split, Kevin McGee was found dead in his Edinburgh residence. He was 32 years old at the time. As per reports, before his unfortunate death, McGee left a message on Facebook that said:

"death is much better than life."

According to The Guardian, as Kevin McGee's death could be considered a suicide, a statement released by Lothian and Borders police said:

"Police were called to an address in Bruntsfield Gardens, Edinburgh at around 8am, where a 32-year-old man was found dead. There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal."

Matt Lucas regrets not getting the chance to become a parent

On the Making a Scene podcast, 51-year-old Matt Lucas confessed that one of his biggest regrets is not becoming a parent. However, he emphasized that he hasn't given up hope completely. He claimed that he still wishes to be a father in the future; however, it would only be possible if he were in a committed relationship. Matt said:

"It's not something that I feel I could do on my own. I feel I'd want to be in a relationship if I was going to have kids. To me it's part of the package of being in a relationship that's settled and happy and something you both want."
