According to a recent publication by the New York Post, stars of the show Little House on the Prairie, Melissa Gilbert and Melissa Sue Anderson re-united after squashing their beef.

The actresses worked together in the drama series, where they played sisters named Laura and Mary Ingalls.

The two had been sharing some beef for the last 40 years. Melissa Gilbert had accused her sister of being her boss on the show during a past interview. She also recalled being whacked by her while shooting one of the scenes.

“One of the first episodes … when Ma comes home with fabric and I reach out to touch it. Melissa whacked me so hard and you can see [where] I almost started to laugh and you can see the whole spectrum of emotion on my face", Gilbert said during an interview

About Melissa Gilbert's feud with Melissa Anderson

Despite being one of the more well-liked series from the 1970s, Little House on the Prairie received little praise from critics. Michael Landon and Melissa Gilbert never received an Emmy nomination.

The show centered on the Ingalls family living on a farm in Minnesota in the 1800s, and starred some big names such as Michael Landon, Karen Grassle, Sidney Greenbush, Lindsay and Dean Butler, and Richard Bull.

During an interview with The Atlanta Journal, Gilbert admitted that she did not include Melissa Anderson in her book titled Prairie Tale because they weren't friends exactly. Gilbert's book, which details his drug usage and turbulent celebrity dating life with celebrities like Rob Lowe and Billy Idol, is far more dishonest than Anderson's.

She also talks about Landon's drinking and her cold demeanor toward Anderson, whom she thought was overly serious and conceited.

"I honestly do not have a lot of memories of the two of us. We were very, very different", Gilbert said during the interview.

Melissa Gilbert's post on reuniting with Anderson after years

On December 27, Saturday, Melissa Gilbert posted a photograph with a long caption from backstage of Gilbert's show, Pen Pals, thus confirming that the two have gotten back together.

"Worlds collide. Blessings abound. Hearts heal and reunite. Magic happens. Last night after @penspalplay my genius co-star @veannecox had a surprise in the audience. Boy am I glad I didn’t know in advance that the remarkable @bibluckley was there", Melissa Gilbert captioned the photo.

The photograph also featured her Pen Pals co-star Veanne Cox, Tony winner Betty Buckley, and Anderson, while explaining that she had a "secret" that she has been:

"keeping close to my heart for a while now".

The former co-stars "share such an important history that no one else on earth truly understands," Gilbert exclaimed, adding that she is "so happy" that Anderson is "back in my life."

"Just the Ingalls girls," Melissa Gilbert remarked. The nicest part is that we can move on as the sisters and friends we've always wanted to be, since the past is now just that the past. What a fantastic Christmas present.
