As far as longstanding feuds of the early noughties go, Pink and Christina Aguilera's Lady Marmalade beef seems to never leave our collective consciousness. In the latest turn of events, R&B singer Mya, who collaborated with both Pink and Aguilera in 2001's hit number Lady Marmalade, brings a new perspective to the scene.

In her latest sit-down with People Magazine, she claims:

"I personally never witnessed any catfights, nothing. Whatever was supposedly going on, I had no eyes..."

She adds:

“I had no ears to even have a clue — that's if it existed at all."

As per the Grammy-winning singer, her memory of their dynamics on the set of Lady Marmalade is different from that of their fans. She recalls the 'goofiness' and camaraderie amongst all the singers and even remembers them going on 'little lunch break' between shoots:

"It was good vibes. We kind of goofed around in rehearsals sometimes while learning all this tough stuff..."

What happened on the sets of Lady Marmalade?

Two of the most iconic pop stars of the 2000s first met on the sets of the Grammy-winning smash hit Lady Marmalade. A revisit of Patti Labelle's iconic 1974 song, the modern rendition also featured Mya and Lil' Kim. However, rumors of a rift between Pink and Christina resulted in the two always being set up against one another.

While the two singers tried their best to quell the very public notions of a 'fight' amongst them, Lady Marmalade's choreographer, Tina Landon recalls a very 'visible' tension on the set.

In a conversation with Cosmopolitan in 2021, she recalled:

"It got a little hairy at one point... They were all sitting there watching each other work. Paul Hunter, the director, was trying to give Christina direction and she couldn’t hear him. She said, 'What did you say?' And Pink reiterated what Paul had said. Christina did the thing: 'I was talking to Paul'. I just sank down in my chair going, 'Oh, god, please don’t let this get worse.' And it didn’t!"

She later added that the two seemingly had 'resolved' the tension:

"They all wanted to do their best. They wanted to shine"

Pink, however, had a different version of the event. In a 2009 interview with MTV, she revealed what really happened behind the scenes, and a particular incident with Interscope executive Ron Fair. Later, in a Bustle piece, she remembers:

"Ron Fair walked in. He didn't say hi to any of us and said, 'What's the high part? What's the most singing part? Christina's going to take that part. And I stood up, and I said 'Hi. How are you? So nice of you to introduce yourself. I'm Pink. She will not be taking that part. I think that's what the f*cking meeting's about...'"

Over the years, the two pop stars seemingly made amends and even appeared on The Voice in 2016. They reunited at the tenth season of NBC's popular singing show, where Pink was an advisor for Team Christina.

In her appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Pink said:

"She's a really sweet person. We made up on The Voice. I hadn't seen her in years and years and years..."

All Patched Up

As the years have gone by, 24 to be precise, Pink and Aguilera seem to have patched up from their Lady Marmalade days. In 2023, Pink even took to Instagram to verbalize her disappointment towards outlets that have continued to push headlines on their rift and not on her new album at the time.

"While some of the responsibility lays with me and my inability to lie, and my uncanny ability to overshare — my real disappointment lies in the fact that the art can never be the focus when you’re a woman..."

Her following reply put an end to all rumors of their apparent feud:

"To Christina — you know where we stand. Resolved. Onwards and upwards."

Pink's last project was her 2023 album Trustfall, and Christina has been quiet since her 2022 Spanish-language album Aguilera.
