Spencer Pratt commenced his relationship with Heidi Montag on the reality television show The Hills. He got famous after being cast in the show, however, his relationship ended up breaking Montag’s friendship with her fellow cast member, Lauren Conrad. Recently, Spencer Pratt revealed the real reason why Lauren Conrad disliked him on The Hills.

The American reality television personality was perceived as the villain in The Hills, largely due to a notorious s*x tape rumor that painted him as the antagonist. But in a recent revelation, Pratt claimed that the true cause of his bitter feud with Brody Jenner had little to do with that rumor. Instead, it was the collapse of Jenner's onscreen romance with Lauren Conrad that truly ignited their tensions. Spencer Pratt explained that the demise of their romance was the real catalyst.

In a report shared by E! News from the May 6 episode of Amanda Hirsch's Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast.

“Brody couldn’t fake-date L.C. anymore, He wanted to start getting some real clout. He was out in the club scene, there was a lot of opportunities, and then once the fake dating ended and he wasn’t down for that, she wanted her wing woman back.” shared Pratt.

At the center of Lauren Conrad’s complicated relationships on The Hills was her close friendship with Heidi Montag, who at the time was caught between loyalties to her best friend and her romantic relationship with Spencer Pratt. Initially, Heidi Montag attempted to keep both relationships intact. However, according to Montag, there came a moment that changed her connection with Lauren.

“The final end game was—they didn’t show this—but she made Heidi go out with her on Valentine's Day when we were official, wouldn't let her leave till like 4 a.m. They're f***ing having breakfast pizza together and [Heidi’s] like, ‘I gotta go back and see Spencer.’ And [Lauren] turned it into this big thing.” shared Pratt.

In the season two finale of The Hills, Heidi Montag made the pivotal decision to move out of the apartment she shared with Spencer Pratt. While the departure marked a significant turning point in their relationship, Spencer later explained that the scene was intended to be far more definitive. In his opinion, the moment was meant to signal a final, conclusive break in their relationship.

“[Lauren] thought that with Heidi getting in the U-Haul and leaving, she thought she got Heidi off the show,” he alleged. “That's what people don't get. That was her saying, ‘Bye b---h, you’re off my show.’” Spencer Pratt explained.

However, in the end, the couple remained on the show, fully committing to their antagonistic roles and embracing the tension that came with them.

“The deal was, ‘You better make them look like the worst people on the earth,’ which we are aware of,” he added. “They’re, at that point, paying so much you’d be stupid not to go along with it. So that's what happened.” added Spencer Pratt.

In a report shared by People on August 11, 2021, Heidi Montag expressed her feelings for Lauren Conrad.

"I'll always love Lauren, I appreciate everything she's done for me. I think that she never needed to do that, I always, she knows, was her best friend ... I was there for her for everything and it didn't have to go that way." shared Montag.

She then explained what made her rethink her friendship with Lauren Conrad.

"She had a boyfriend I didn't like, when she was with Jason [Wahler], and I supported her," she said. "I literally was like, 'I'm your girl, I'm here for you, whoever you're with I just want to support you with.'" said Montag.
"And then when that whole Spencer thing happened, she's like, 'Well if you date Spencer, you're off the show,' and I'm like, 'What? You are not the friend that I am to you, like why would you do that to me? I can't even believe you're doing this to me right now.'" she added.
