Tig Notaro and Cheryl Hines don't seem to have settled their differences.
Notaro, on the latest episode of her Handsome Podcast, revealed that the two had a 'falling out' earlier this year due to Hines's husband's political affiliations.
While stating that she never tried to 'sever the friendship' with Hines, Notaro added (sic),
“Once he (RFK Jr.) was running for President and once I stepped away from our old podcast, I never heard from her again other than nice responses to me sending love when I thought maybe she needs support or maybe she's feeling this way or that, based on what I knew of her.”
The episode is currently available on YouTube.
Before their apparent 'breakup,' Cheryl Hines and Tig Notaro co-hosted a podcast called Tig & Cheryl: True Story, where the two comedians discussed and dissected popular documentaries. However, the two have been estranged ever since RFK Jr.'s 2023 campaign.
Cheryl Hines and Tig Notaro's Fallout
Notaro detailed her conscious choice to retreat from the friendship on the podcast episode. She continued (sic),
“She and I had a four-hour conversation, and she went through different issues and encouraged me to sit down with Bobby, and I was like, 'Let me think on this'. And then I woke up, and I was like, 'Yeah. No, thank you.'”
Interestingly, this isn't the first time Notaro has spoken about the demise of their friendship. In an October episode of the Breaking Bread with Tom Papa podcast, she highlighted what caused their friendship to break down.
“When he (RFK Jr.) was announcing his run, I just felt like I needed to step away because there are beliefs that were like a gnat on the arm years ago that were getting further into the spotlight.”
Cheryl Hines, however, has generally avoided discussing politics during her husband's campaign. In her sit-down interview with Fox News Digital in 2024, she shed light on how she deals with differing political views from her husband's.
“One of the things that I’ve learned, especially about politics, is you’re not going to agree with somebody about everything, and it’s OK.”

She also added,
“We’ve learned to talk through it. Talk it out. Listen to each other. Sometimes, agree to disagree or say, ‘Oh, I’m going to think about that, and I hear what you’re saying,’ or ‘I don’t like the way you’re saying it. I wish you’d say it in a different way.'”
Cheryl Hines is currently promoting her new memoir, Unscripted.
