The professional relationship between Ryan Reynolds and TJ Miller, who starred together in the first two Deadpool films, has made headlines once again after Miller’s comments in a 2022 podcast about Reynolds went viral online.

After Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively made headlines recently due to their ongoing lawsuit against Justin Baldoni, people have suddenly gained interest in Miller’s past allegations about Reynolds' on-set dynamics with him.

Miller, who played Weasel, Deadpool’s snarky bartender sidekick, claimed in a 2022 appearance on The Adam Carolla Show that Reynolds was “horrifically mean” to him while they worked together on the set of Deadpool 2.

TJ Miller explained that Ryan Reynolds, while fully in character as Deadpool, gave an insult that wasn't playful and felt personal. Miller quoted Reynolds as saying:

“You know what’s great about you, Weasel? You’re not the star, but you do just enough exposition that it’s funny, and then we can leave and get back to the real movie.”

Miller said the interaction was weird and that it left him and his wife, Kate Miller, visibly uncomfortable. He suggested that Reynolds’ behavior was the product of insecurity, noting that Reynolds is a skilled comic but that the first Deadpool movie’s success may have altered his demeanor. However, Miller added that he did not hold anything against Ryan Reynolds.

Soon after the interview, Reynolds supposedly contacted Miller by addressing the situation in an email. Talking about it on the Jim Norton & Sam Roberts Show, Miller characterized their interaction as positive, saying it was “a misunderstanding” and that everything between them was “fine” after their exchange.

TJ Miller’s relationship with the Deadpool franchise was, however, fraught. He did not act in the recently released Deadpool & Wolverine. This may be due to the fact that Miller has been accused of sexual assault and bullying and, most recently, of issuing a fake bomb threat.

More about Justin Baldoni's lawsuit against Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds

Actor and director Justin Baldoni is suing actress Blake Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist Leslie Sloane for $400 million. The complaint, filed in federal court in New York, alleges that the defendants engaged in defamation, civil extortion, and other breaches of contract.

Several months before this legal action, Justin Baldoni's co-star Blake Lively accused him of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment while they shot the movie It Ends With Us.

Baldoni has denied these allegations and alleges that Lively, Reynolds, and Sloane conspired against him to tarnish his reputation.

The lawsuit cites an instance when Ryan Reynolds supposedly approached a talent executive, called Baldoni a “sexual predator,” and requested that the agency cut its ties with him.
