James Harden, who has a net worth of $165 million according to Celebrity Net Worth, owns a fine dining restaurant called Thirteen, located in Houston, Texas, which has now reportedly shut down due to unpaid rent. According to the Houston Chronicle, the restaurant has $2.2 million in unpaid debt, the news of which was revealed through a sign placed on the doors of the restaurant earlier this week on Monday.

The news of James Harden's restaurant shutting down comes a year after the establishment went through massive renovations. As per Houston Chronicle, the restaurant had hired a new chef and completely revamped it's menu. The palce also underwent design changes and unveiled a new look for its customers.

James Harden rose to prominence after being drafted as the third overall pick in 2009 by the Oklahoma City Thunder. He later played for the Houston Rockets before transferring to Brooklyn Nets in 2021, but according to Celebrity Net Worth, he soon moved to the Philadelphia 76ers, where he signed a $68.64 million deal for two years.

In 2023, James Harden, who is an eleven time NBA All Star, transferred to the Los Angeles Clippers and was re-signed to the team earlier this year after inking a $81.5. million deal. Harden also earns millions from brand endorsements, having previously signed a $200 million deal with Adidas.

According to reports, Harden and the Thirteen Hospitality Group signed a lease agreement back in July 29, 2020, for a five year period. Just two months ago, on July 17, both parties had signed an extension of the agreement until October of this year. A part of the letter reads:

"Please be advised that the door locks to the leased premises have been changed and tenant shall be excluded therefrom due to non-payment of rent."

The notice further specifies the exact amount due ($2,217,430.05) and adds that once dues are cleared, a new key shall be handed over to the concerned party upon payment of the "delinquent rents." It states:

"A new key to the premises will be provided, contingent on and [in] exchange for payment of delinquent rent and other sums due under the lease. To pay the rent and obtain the key, you may contact the following during regular business hours."

James Harden has not yet made a statement regarding the issue.
