Mark Ruffalo is slamming Joe Rogan's comments on the ongoing ICE raids. The actor recently called out the prolific podcaster and Trump supporter for criticizing the ICE raids now, saying it's too "late." He shared his thoughts on Threads.

“Dear @joerogan. It’s a little late now to pretend like project 2025 didn’t exist and wasn’t the play book all along. You are either not that smart or not that dumb. It’s hard to tell at this point."

Mark Ruffalo, who rallied for Kamala Harris in the 2024 bid for president, also noted that Rogan should have been aware of Trump's immigration policies before throwing his weight behind him last year. The latter has been voicing his disdain for the president's immigration policy since March.

Mark Ruffalo, an Oscar-nominated Marvel actor, shared his thoughts following Joe Rogan's July 2 episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, where he criticized the raids targeting undocumented migrant workers at their workplaces.

At the time, according to The Hollywood Reporter, while speaking with Replit CEO Amjad Masad, Joe Rogan, 57, said:

“It’s insane. We were told there would be no — well, there are two things that are insane. One is the targeting of migrant workers — not cartel members, not gang members, not drug dealers — just construction workers, showing up in construction sites, raiding them. Gardeners. Like, really?”

Project 25, as Mark Ruffalo mentioned, is also known as the 2025 Presidential Transition Project. According to USA Today, it is an initiative launched by the conservative think tank Heritage Foundation. It proposes eliminating the Department of Education, rescinding federal approval of abortion pills, and expanding immigration officials' authority to deport undocumented immigrants, among other measures.

During his second term, President Trump, who has long distanced himself from this initiative, has overseen a surge in arrests of individuals accused of illegal immigration. Consequently, this has triggered a wave of backlash and protests against what people now refer to as "unlawful."

According to Fox News, the president announced just last week that his administration was "working on" an exception for those in the agriculture and hospitality industries. His announcement was a response to concerns voiced by workers in those industries about the shrinking workforce resulting from the raids.

Trump also mentioned that those who have been working in the US, especially in these industries, for several years may now qualify for a work permit that allows them to stay legally. They will be considered tax-paying residents, but will not be granted citizenship.

"We’re going to take care of our farmers and hotel workers, but we're working on it right now. And Ron [DeSantis is] going to be involved," he said last Tuesday. "They can be here legally. They can pay taxes and everything. They're not getting citizenship, but they get other things. And the farmers need them to do the work," Trump said. "Without those people, you're not going to be able to run your farm."

According to Fox News, Mark Ruffalo was active at a "No Kings Day" protest in New York City on June 14, alongside actress Susan Sarandon. Sporting a hat with the phrase "immigrant" etched across, the progressive advocate slammed Trump's policies on immigration as he underscored their value:

"Well, we’re seeing what’s happening. First of all, we’re understanding that the immigrants aren’t the criminals. If you look at the statistics, most of the crimes committed in this country are by White people — non-immigrants," Mark Ruffalo told the New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC), an activist group, at the rally, per Fox News. "It's on us, guys. Literally, together, we're the Avengers now," Ruffalo said. "No one's going to come and save us, man. Americans unite," he added, according to USA Today.

That same month, he took to Instagram to pen a lengthy statement decrying the Trump administration's immigration policies:

"When you have working class people going after the poor and other working class people, you know you are living in an oligarchy," Mark Ruffalo wrote on June 7.

His post read, in part:

"The president is a grifter, his family is raking it in with their bit coin con, the dopey tech billionaire takes your tax money to make himself richer than any person in the history of mankind with his pipe dream of living on mars, while you starve, while you worry, while he gleefully lets people with AIDS, people suffering famine, or persecution or political danger silently die," Mark Ruffalo said. "He fires your family members, and stops cancer research to help cure the ones you love. You are pointing your guns in the wrong direction."

It went on,

"The billionaire up at the top is stealing you blind, and you are worried about the poorest of the poor ruining your life? You are pointing your guns in the wrong direction."

Entertainment Weekly has reported that the raids, which began in June, have now placed about 56,000 immigrants in detention.
