During his conversation with Josh Peck, John Stamos recalled how he spoke to Lori the morning the news of her scandal broke out, but she had no idea about it. He then claimed that the actress "went to prison for" Giannulli.
He was referring to Lori's sentencing to two months behind bars in December 2020. She served time at a prison in Dublin, California, and finished about two weeks in house arrest in April 2021.
"She's not a liar. She's a saint," he asserted. Following her stint from prison, he asked her about it, to which he said she told him: "You know, I met a lot of nice ladies in there, we have a book club." He continued: "That's her! She didn't deserve to be dragged through that. I know for a fact it was all him." He said "even the girls" seemed to have little to do with it.
Loughlun and Giannulli were arrested in 2019 after the FBI uncovered their attempt to shell out $500,000 to get their now adult daughters, Olivia Jade and Isabella "Bella" Rose, into the University of Southern California. At the time, their names were listed on the crew team, despite neither of them having participated in it before. They were among dozens charged at the time.
In May 2020, the Full House actress pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud. In addition to her prison sentence, she was ordered to pay $150,000 in fines and 100 hours of community service.
As for her husband, he also pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud, as well as honest services wire and mail fraud. He was consequently sentenced to five months behind bars and two years of supervised release. He was also ordered to complete 250 hours of community service and pay a $250,000 fine.
“Forty years I've known her," Stamos said of Loughlin. "You know, you can see through people after a few years. This woman's a saint."
John Stamos and Lori Loughlin portrayed Uncle Jesse and Aunt Becky on the popular '90s sitcom. They also reprised their roles for the sequel series Fuller House, which ran on Netflix from 2016 to 2020.
