A film starring the late Johnny Wactor is premiering on Tuesday, June 24, at the Dances With Films festival. It also marks the last movie role for the actor, as he was shot dead in Los Angeles in May of the previous year.

A week ahead of the world premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre in LA, California, TMZ has revealed an exclusive four-minute clip from Johnny Wactor’s final movie, Ciao, Mama. In the scene, the actor-producer is sharing a screen with his co-star, Emily Alabi (portraying Bri).

In the first half, Marco (played by Johnny Wactor) and Bri have a passive-aggressive exchange, which concludes with the latter almost storming off. However, during the second half, the character portrayed by Johnny shares his vulnerabilities in emotional outbursts. The scene ends with Marco and Bri embracing one another.

Wactor, who will be seen in his final acting role, was also the producer of Ciao, Mama. A synopsis of the indie film, which will premiere a month after his first death anniversary, reads as follows (via IMDb):

“A son returns home for his mother's funeral after she makes everyone in the family promise not to tell him about her illness.”

Emily Alabi shared a glimpse of her scene with Johnny Wactor after his death last year

In the exclusive video shared by TMZ, Bri hugs an emotional Marco at the end. After Johnny Wactor’s unexpected demise last year, Emily Alabi posted a short clip of their hug from the same scene on Instagram. She also honored her co-star by penning a heartfelt tribute in the caption that read,

“Johnny, If I could just hug you one more time and let you know how much I love you. I miss you so much my beautiful friend. 😭💔 You were truly one of a kind with the most precious heart. You always led with love and I just hope you know how much you are loved…by so many. We got your back and we will continue to fight for your justice. Rest in heaven 🕊️ You’ll forever be in my heart ❤️”

Emily also used the hashtag “#justiceforjohnny” to highlight the circumstances under which Wactor died. For those unaware, he was shot when at least three suspects were reportedly trying to steal the catalytic converter from his vehicle. Later that year, four people were apprehended, and two of them, namely Robert Barceleau and Sergio Estrada, are facing murder charges, according to TMZ.

A special livestream event will be organized on June 25 for Johnny Wactor-starrer Ciao, Mama

The official trailer of the General Hospital actor’s final movie was shared by ExtraTV earlier this month. The indie drama will have its world premiere at the Dances With Films festival, but viewers will be able to watch it through a special livestream event on June 25, 2025, at 8:30 pm ET / 5:30 pm PT.

To access the virtual premiere of Ciao, Mama, fans will have to donate a minimum of $10 to Hills and Thrills, per the film’s official Instagram account. According to TMZ, 60% of revenue will go to Johnny Wactor’s causes, including “his foundation and a scholarship created in his name.”
