Actress Kirsten Dunst, well-known for her role in Spider-Man, opened up about how being a mother influenced the kind of roles she was willing to take up. On December 4, the 43-year-old actress was at the Red Sea International Film Festival, which was held in Saudi Arabia. At the event, she said:

“I have been burnt out before, and I haven't sustained that energy of being able to have a work-life balance. I also went to school, and I'd make movies, and I'd go back and forth. But now, I am in a position right now where I can wait, wait till I want to work.”

The actress went on to say:

“I have two kids. I've been enjoying just being a mum and then just waiting for projects that really mean something to me. It's comfortable and really wonderful that I'm in a position now where I can really be very careful about what really speaks to me and what work I do.”

Kirsten Dunst is married to actor Jesse Plemons. They share two children. Celebrity Net Worth notes that Dunst has a net value of $25 million. Besides the first instalment of Spider-Man, she also appeared in the sequels. She was paid $7 million for working in the 2004 sequel and $10 million for the 2007 sequel. Dunst was paid $5 million for Wimbledon. Speaking about her children at the event, she said:

“I think anybody who has experienced having children, everything changes. For me, it gave me so much more fearlessness in my acting, which is such a gift that they gave me.”

In terms of assets, Kirsten Dunst purchased a house in 2001 for $2.6 million. This property was subsequently sold. She had another house in New York City, which was worth $4.5 million.

Kirsten Dunst also said that the experience of motherhood made her more efficient. She said she could give more effort and time to her work. She mentioned that this was helpful as the industry tends to affect people. Dunst said:

“I've been very lucky that I have surrounded myself with good people, and I have a wonderful husband, and people that don't get caught up in the frivolous parts of this industry. So that's helped.”

Kirsten Dunst also mentioned:

“Also, I think the truer you stay to yourself and the less you worry about everybody else, then the more the opportunities come, and the right ones come to you. I think in order to have longevity, especially as a woman, you really have to pick and choose, I think, to continue to have an interesting career and keep yourself special as well.”

In October 2025, Kirsten Dunst sat down with Kelly and Mark. When asked how she and Plemons balanced acting and working, she said that when she worked, he would stay back home, and vice versa. However, overlaps happen, and they try to figure out ways. Nevertheless, she acknowledged that the job is difficult and every stay-at-home mother should be paid.
