American conservative political activist and former collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines announced the birth of her daughter, Margot, on Thursday night (October 2) via Instagram and X.
“There's nothing that could've prepared me for a love like this. God has blessed us beyond belief. Welcome to the world, sweet Margot,” the post was captioned.
It was accompanied by two images of Riley Gaines with her newborn and her husband, Louis Barker, who is a businessman and owns a Tennessee-based firm, LCB Construction, according to his LinkedIn.
Riley Gaines had announced her pregnancy in June during a Turning Point USA event in Texas, showing off her baby bump and pictures of sonograms. The following month, she made headlines by swimming 1.25 miles to Alcatraz prison alongside her husband, combat veterans, and U.S. Navy SEALs, when she was 31 weeks pregnant.
All you need to know about Riley Gaines’ husband, Louis Barker
Riley Gaines and Louis Charlie Barker attended the University of Kentucky, where they met in 2019, became friends, fell in love, and dated for three years before getting married in May 2022. The wedding was an intimate affair in the presence of close friends and family.
Louis Barker, a native of Bethpage, Tennessee, was an NCAA swimmer for the University of Kentucky’s Kentucky Wildcats, just like Riley Gaines. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from the university in August 2021.
Later, he co-founded The Pool House, LLC, in January 2021. It was a swimming pool and landscaping design, and a construction company based in Nashville, Tennessee.
Riley’s life partner is the founder and owner of LCB Construction, formerly called LCB Pools. Previously, Louis Barker worked as a project manager at Chandler and Son from November 2021 to July 2023.
In the past, Gaines’ husband was involved with Leadership Institutes Youth Leadership School and Leadership Institutes International School of Fundraising.
Barker often appears on Gaines' social media. For instance, in November 2024, she took to Instagram and X and revealed that her British national husband was unable to get an American green card as he refused to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
“Yes, you heard that right. In the year 2024, you have to have the under-researched, ineffective Covid vaccine to enter this country legally…” Riley said at the time.
She added, “Even still, it's a decision my husband would make ten days out of ten. What good is a green card with compromised health? When this craziness inevitably ends, because it will, my husband will become a citizen and have a functioning immune system. It's a win-win.”
Back then, the conservative commentator gained the support of Elon Musk.
Riley Gaines, 25, is best known for campaigning against the participation of trans women in women’s sports. She was an NCAA All-American member who represented the Kentucky Wildcats in several tournaments, including the SEC Championships.
The Nashville native is also a far-right political activist who previously feuded online with Olympic swimming champion Simone Biles. Gaines also hosts the weekly podcast, Gaines for Girls, on OutKick and Fox Nation.
