Following her playing career, she shifted to coaching by establishing a girls' AAU program in New Jersey named Ring City. Later, she transformed it into a co-ed program to allow boys to participate.

Maria earned a storied reputation as the girls’ varsity coach at DePaul Catholic High School. She ultimately assumed the role of assistant coach for the boys' team at Don Bosco Prep, the high school attended by both of her kids, Ron Jr. and Dylan. She taught Dylan the essential principles and resilience that characterize his gameplay. Maria established the initial technical groundwork for Dylan Harper.

As reported by Essentially Sports, Maria presently holds the position of assistant coach at Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey.

Maria Harper gained widespread attention after appearing with her son during the 2025 NBA draft in Brooklyn. Maria expressed her sentiments upon Dylan's selection as the second overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs.

In an interview with ESPN during the draft, Maria was prompted to share her insights on Dylan's progression and journey to the draft. She took pride in her son's achievement, joining his brother, Ron Jr.

Ron Jr. is also under a two-way contract with the Detroit Pistons. He is elder brother to Dylan.
