Oscar-nominated actor Mark Ruffalo, best known for playing the Hulk in the Avengers series, has recently made headlines in the political landscape, this time rallying with the “No Kings” protests against U.S. President Donald Trump.

The protests, held in several U.S. cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and Austin, brought out Americans who feared that Trump and his administration were taking authoritarian actions against American citizens.

Mark Ruffalo appeared with thousands of protesters in Manhattan who marched down Fifth Avenue, expressing concern and stating that democracy was in real trouble. In an interview with MSNBC, he said,

"We see a president who has made himself a king and dictator, and we don’t see an opposition that’s powerful enough to stand up against the trampling of our rights and the trampling of the Constitution that’s happening every single day,"

His critique was especially sharp in terms of what he described as the administration’s unwillingness to follow court orders, executive overreach, and its handling of immigrants, including family separation and detention.

Most recently, Mark Ruffalo also launched an attack on Donald Trump through his social media, describing him as “a grifter” who took advantage of ordinary Americans.

In a fiery post on Instagram amidst continued protests against ICE in Los Angeles, Ruffalo criticized the administration for focusing on immigrants and failing to address the systemic causes. The real enemy, he said, is billionaires and those in power who rig the system and watch as ordinary working people turn on each other.

"He fires your family members, and stops cancer research to help cure the ones you love. You are pointing the gun in the wrong direction," He captioned the post.

During the No Kings rally, the actor also emphasized the broader democratic decline in America and warned that the forced removal of Senator Alex Padilla at a press conference represented the nation moving dangerously close to authoritarian rule.

Mark Ruffalo also talked about the use of the military within the United States as a signal that the Constitution is being undermined.

"This president does not care about any of our Founding Fathers’ principles. One of the reasons we separated the military from the Executive Branch was because we were leaving countries where dictators were using the military against the people." He added.

In a different viral post, Ruffalo expressed worry about a Supreme Court decision that reversed the Chevron doctrine, which had given federal agencies a way to interpret laws concerning their areas of expertise. He warned that the move would give more power to politicians, who are prone to corporate lobbying.

"No matter what your party is we can all agree that politicians can be swayed with contributions." He wrote on X.

Mark Ruffalo had also recently suggested that his role as a “petty dictator” in Bong Joon-ho’s new sci-fi satire Mickey 17 is something of a comment on contemporary politics (Deadline). Chatting on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Ruffalo said that he first thought that the character was over the top, but now he believes it’s “totally underplayed.

While his activism has received mixed reactions, many have praised Ruffalo for using his fame to spread political awareness to his fans.
