Andy Cohen didn’t hold back when reacting to Martina Navratilova’s recent remarks about surrogacy, calling her stance “ill-informed and dumb.” The Bravo host addressed Martina Navratilova's viral comments during an episode of Andy Cohen Live on SiriusXM. Martina Navratilova had stated online that “surrogacy is just wrong,” adding, “sometimes you can’t have it all.”
Cohen, a father of two born via surrogacy, pushed back against Martina Navratilova’s opinion.
“What Martina tweeted was, ‘Surrogacy is wrong.’ She said, ‘Surrogacy is just wrong. Sometimes you can’t have it all.’ Well, here’s the deal, that’s just ill-informed and dumb,” he shared.
“And yes, we will talk about it at the reunion.”
He went on to say,
“Basically, she’s uninformed on the issue, so I just think she’s not informed. It’s a bad take. What can I tell you? She’s just wrong.”
Martina Navratilova’s surrogacy post ignites tension with Andy Cohen

When Martina Navratilova’s wife, Julia Lemigova, joined Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live on July 30, the host didn’t waste time addressing Navratilova's viral tweet about surrogacy.
“Julia and I have discussed this offline. Martina will not be at the Miami reunion, so I will not be asking Martina about this,” Cohen said, noting that the conversation had already taken place behind the scenes.
Julia Lemigova, 53, pushed back on the backlash slightly, telling Cohen that Navratilova’s comments were taken “out of context.” But Cohen didn’t accept that defense and stood by his original critique.
Pressed further, the RHOM star made her personal stance clear.
“Well, you know, Martina and I share a bed, but we don’t share a brain. And we not always agree on different views, but I believe in surrogacy, and I completely disagree with her comments,” she explained.
Andy Cohen helped legalize surrogacy in New York before welcoming daughter
Andy Cohen has long been open about his path to parenthood, and in a podcast appearance, he reflected on the journey that led to his daughter Lucy being “one of the first” gestational surrogacies in New York.
Speaking on Amanda Hirsch’s Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, the Bravo host shared that he had actively worked to help change the state’s surrogacy laws before welcoming Lucy.
“I was going to Albany... [gestational] surrogacy was illegal in the state of New York until [2020] and I helped get that law passed, and Governor Cuomo, he really made it happen,” Cohen explained.
Cohen, who is also dad to Benjamin, said he wanted his surrogate to give birth in New York, which motivated his involvement in the legislative process.
“So I went to Albany a couple of times and I was out there, you know, trying to get it passed, I wanted to have the baby in New York, or I wanted my surrogate to have the baby in New York. And so Lucy was one of the first surrogate babies born here,” he shared.
He added that the time between his two children gave him space to adjust to parenthood:
“But also, it was good because it gave me a lot more time to kind of get good at it with Ben.”
He noted that Benjamin loves his baby sister.
