Meek Mill is weighing in on Shannon Sharpe being axed from ESPN.

Sharpe was sacked earlier this week from the show in the wake of him settling his sexual assault lawsuit with a former girlfriend, and the rapper took to X to weigh in. Around the same time, Mill replied to a tweet announcing the news by saying:

"Y'all too old to be getting fired fr……"

The Philadelphia rapper was heavily scrutinized for his comments, with many accusing him og being insensitive. He then promptly took to X on Friday night to shed some light on just what he meant, noting:

"I was being sarcastic with that tweet about Shannon Sharpe we see him as a GOAT! He shouldn't be able to get fired from anything…..seeing him talk about others almost made me forget that's Shannon Sharpe the legend! I understand why they tell me get off twitter!"

Shannon Sharpe apologises to his brother while Meek Mill says he's one of the GOATS

As reported by Hot New Hip Hop, earlier this year, his former girlfriend and On*yF*ns model, 21, accused him of sexually assaulting her and recording their intimacy without prior consent. Shannon Sharpe denied these allegations, though they recently settled the $50 million lawsuit.

However, details of their settlement remain scarce. Hot New Hip Hop reported that he allegedly paid her $23 million, though this remains to be confirmed.

Nonetheless, the Hall of Fame inductee and NFL legend took to his own Nightcap podcast to address the situation and apologise to his brother, Sterling Sharpe, who was days away from getting inducted into the Hall of Fame instead. He said:

"Obviously, I'm sure everybody's heard the news by now that I will not be returning to ESPN. I found out this information a little earlier in the week and really the only thing that I really ask is like, guys, could we wait until Monday."

He added:

"My brother's going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. I really wanted it to be about him and I wanted it to be about my family."

As for Meek Mill, he has been active on X, where he recently teased fans with some new music:

“And I’m about to drop a heavy load!!!!”

According to HipHopDX, responding to reports that he is the fifth most-streamed rapper on YouTube, Meek Mill also thanked his fans for tuning in:

“Shout out to everyone playing my music in their content! Everything aligning right! Make sure you use my new and old music. I own all the new but I still promo the old music because it laid the ground for me!”

The last time he released a solo album was in 2021, Expensive Pain. In yet another tweet yesterday, August 1, he declared himself as one of the best rappers in this day and age:

"I feel like I'm one of the best rappers in the world living respectfully!"
