Alan Jackson has opened up about his client, Nick Reiner's alleged link to the murder of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner.

People Magazine has reported that Jackson spoke to reporters outside the court in LA on Wednesday morning, after his client did not enter into a plea. Nick has been arrested without bail on suspicion of murdering his parents. The Hollywood director and photographer's bodies, 78 and 70 years old, respectively, were found in their home earlier this week by their daughter, Romy.

"Most importantly, this is a devastating tragedy that has befallen the Reiner family, we all recognize that," Jackson told the press. "Our hearts go out to the entire Reiner family. There are very, very complex and serious issues that are associated with this case. Those need to be thoroughly, but very carefully, dealt with and examined and looked at and analyzed."

He continued,

"We ask that throughout the process, you allow the system to move forward in the way that it was designed to move forward. Not with a rush to judgment, not with jumping to conclusions, but with restraint and with dignity and with the respect that this system and this process deserves and that the family deserves."

The details surrounding Nick Reiner's arrest explored:

Several outlets have reported that Rob Reiner and Michele's throats were slashed in their home. There were no signs of forced entry at their sprawling six-bedroom estate.

ABC7 has reported that Nick Reiner was living on the property, a former family security guard confirmed. He was not at home when his parents' bodies were discovered, law enforcement sources told ABC News. He was cuffed just near the University of Southern California in Exposition Park over the weekend.

Prosecutors have reportedly charged Nick with two counts of first-degree murder, special circumstances of multiple murders. They are also planning on accusing him of using a dangerous weapon, i.e., a knife. ABC7 has reported that these charges carry a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty.

L.A. County District Attorney Nathan Hochman told reporters on Tuesday:

"No decision at this point has been made with respect to the death penalty."

Correctional Health Service has also issued a statement confirming that Nick Reiner did not appear in court for his arraignment on Tuesday morning, as he was

"undergoing the standard jail health screening intake process, which is now complete. No additional information can be provided at this time due to federal and state privacy laws."

Nick Reiner had long been vocal about his struggles with substance abuse, which began in his teenage years. The 2016 movie, Being Charlie, was loosely inspired by his life. He co-wrote the film while his dad directed it.
