Actress Odessa A'zion, who played Rachel Mizler in Marty Supreme, responded to online speculations about her hair. At the 31st Critics' Choice Awards, she addressed the online claims that her hair was a wig. Speaking to Deadline at the red carpet, she said:

“I have been told about that. Yeah, there’s a whole debate. Is it a wig? Is it not? I guess we’ll never know. No, I am kidding. The gag is the LA premiere was a wig and then New York premiere, it took me five hours to do my hair. And everyone thinks it’s a wig. You think I could afford a wig like that and wear it all the time?”

Odessa A'zion went on to say:

“So, a wig like that is like I have heard wigs are like can go up to like 20 or 30 thousand dollars. Are you f*cking kidding me?”

The actress said that she did not even have professional help for hair and makeup as she was trying to save money. However, she said someday she might get a wig, mentioning that it was an expensive affair. Speaking about how people reacted to these comments at the award ceremony, Odessa A'zion said:

“I talked about money, but then I don’t think that people realize that for a large majority of your career, you’re not making a lot of money. It’s not going too crazy, but knock on wood, there will be some changes. But that’s just what I meant when I said I’m trying to save my funds.”
