Rusev is weighing in on Raja Jackson's alleged attack on Syko Stu. Raja Jackson, 25, the son of former MMA star Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, is copping flak for his alleged attack on the independent wrestler. In videos going viral online, the WWE star can be seen shoving Stu to the mat before punching him repeatedly while he lay there, seemingly unconscious.
Syko Stu, legally known as Stuart Smith, has since been rushed to the hospital, where is is reportedly in a critical but stable condition. He was left with several broken bones and lost multiple teeth. Rusev, a fellow WWE icon, took to X to acknowledge the incident and slam Raja Jackson's actions:
“I’ve known and trained with @SykoStu for 15 years. He is a former US Army veteran and amazing guy. There are no excuses for what happened in that ring. Praying for strong Kick out.”
Everything we know about Raja Jackson and Syko Stu's alleged feud
News.com.au has reported that the Los Angeles Police Department is currently looking into the debacle. They responded to the incident on the night in question in Sun Valley, and Smith was later rushed to the hospital. The video, caught on Raja Jackson's Kick livestream, shows him delivering over 20 blows before he was pulled off by fellow wrestlers and restrained.
However, new videos are emerging where he and Smith can be seen getting into a brawl, with the latter even shattering a beer bottle on his head at one point. It was reportedly a scripted scene, and the two made up shortly after. Labelling the debacle “tragic” and “barbaric,” wrestler Douglas Malo told TMZ:
“This is so shocking because they were supposed to do a small spot and before you know it, he’s raining down punches.”
KnokX Pro has also issued a statement on Facebook addressing Raja Jackson's actions, per Newsbreak:
“First and foremost our thoughts and prayers are with our brother Mr. Stuart Smith (Syko Stu) as he remains a priority and we are monitoring his well being. What was supposed to be a planned and agreed upon wrestling spot, turned into a selfish, irresponsible act of violence against Mr. Smith. This egregious act is reprehensible and never should have occurred. In the 17 years of operation of KnokX Pro Wrestling Academy, there has never been anything as heinous take place such as this and we apologize to our patrons and fans.”
Syko Stu is reportedly a retired army veteran. Having lost his mother in 2020, he had been struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder since he left the military, and has long been vocal about channeling his anger into wrestling. He made his wrestling debut in 2017.
While Raja Jackson has yet to address his actions head-on, his father, Rampage, took to X on August 24 to issue a statement. He noted:
"I want to clear up the misinformation about my son Raja. I’ve been confirmed that the wrestler ( Stewart Smith aka Syko Stu) is awake and stable. Raja was unexpectedly hit in the side of the head by him moments before Smith’s match, Raja was told that he could get his “payback”in the ring,i thought it was apart of the show. It was bad judgement, and a work that went wrong."
He added:
"Raja is a MMA fighter not a pro wrestler and had no business involved in an event like this. I don’t condone my son’s actions AT ALL! He suffered a concussion from sparring only days ago and had no business doing anything remotely close to physical contact. As a father, im deeply concerned with his health AND the well being of Mr. Smith. That being said I’m very upset that any of this happened, but my main concern now is that Mr. Smith will make a speedy recovery.I apologize on his behalf and to KICK for the situation."
