Rapper Swae Lee, also known as Khalif Malik Ibn Shaman Brown, made a revelation about his girlfriend. In a clip shared by X account @raphousetv2 recently, Lee was seen speaking to a few others on a podcast, sharing that he was living in some producer’s basement. He said that his girlfriend had broken up with him.

He also said that he was in love with the girl. Lee recalled her words:

“I can’t be with you anymore.”

The rapper then said that his girlfriend left him for a truck driver, whose income ranged between $ 7,000 to $12,000 per month. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Swae Lee has a net value of $12 million.

In 2019, he bought a huge mansion in LA for $3.5 million. Three years later, he purchased a condominium in Miami for $975,000. In terms of his musical achievements, he collaborated with French Montana, and the track reached the third position on Billboard Hot 100 in 2017.

During a conversation with Moy Baun on REVOLT in 2023, the rapper was asked to throw light on his upbringing. Swae Lee shared that he was born in Inglewood, Los Angeles, but when he was still young, he moved to Mississippi.

He said most of his childhood was spent in Tupelo, Mississippi. Growing up, he listened to a lot of artists like Lil Wayne and Soulja Boy. His mother also played old-school hip-hop around the house, which added to his musical influences.

Swae Lee looks back on his early days in rapping

When Moy Baun asked what made him want to become an artist, Swae Lee explained that he loved how people enjoyed it. Back in school, he and his brother used to rap before class, and it would draw a crowd, almost like a small rap battle scene.

Lee added that by the time they were in 10th or 11th grade, lots of students would gather around to watch them freestyle, and that excitement made him want to keep doing music. He mentioned:

“So, it's like that was like my early introduction and just like rapping in front of people and just like breaking the ice on being like comfortable and like doing my thing, people watching like large crowds.”

Swae Lee went on:

“I love that feeling like and it was like just being creative you know what I'm saying and being witty just yeah like entertaining business. I just like to entertain like not even on the like it's just like that's what that was natural for me.”

The rapper said that being on stage felt exciting. He explained that you had to stay focused and put a lot of effort into hitting the right notes. The crowd’s energy could make the performance even better, and with a guitar, you could create sounds that matched someone singing. For him, the guitar was a classic instrument that could light up the whole show.

Swae Lee also said that he made his first song when he was a teenager, with a regular mic. The song was named Party Animal, and when it was put on YouTube, it had 7000 views.
