Charlamagne Tha God says Donald Trump is "scraping the bottom of the Black Barrel" after the latter called the radio host a "racist sleazebag."
U.S President Donald Trump criticized American radio host, Charlamagne Tha God on Truth Social on August 3, after Charlamagne during an appearance on Lara Trump's My View discussed that the president's devoted base would shift to a more traditional conservative candidate after the Epstein Files scandal.
"The very wonderful and talented Lara Trump, whose show is a big ratings success, put a racist sleazebag Charlamagne 'Tha God' on her show."
Trump then questioned the need to use the word "GOD" in Charlamagne's name and added:
"He's a Low IQ individual, has no idea what words are coming out of his mouth, and knows nothing about me or what I have done."
Charlamagne Tha God responded to Trump's criticique in an Instagram post. Charlamagne shared a photo of Trump's post, an excerpt from The Daily Show and a clip of his My View appearance and said:
"President Trump was better off going after Urkel tho because is really Scraping The Bottom of The Black Barrel coming at me. You can't go from MLK JR, President Obama, Oprah, Beyonce to a sleezebag name Lenard." (Charlamagne's real name is Lenard McKelvey).
What did Charlamagne Tha God say about Donald Trump?
Charlamagne Tha God during an appearance on Donald Trump's daughter in law, Lara Trump's Fox News show, My View, said that conservative Republicans are likely to bring changes to Republican Party, following the Donald Trump's alleged affiliation to the Epstein scandal:
"I think there is a political coup going on right now in the Republican Party. I think this Epstein thing is going to be a way for traditional conservatives to take their party back."
He continued:
"They know that this is the issue that has gotten the base riled up, the MAGA base isn't letting this issue go. And for the first time, they know they can probably take their party back and not p**s off the MAGA base."
The Breakfast Club host was referring to the fallout withing the Democratic party after refusing to release the Epstein Files, the information which the government collected while investigating Jeffrey Epstein. Attorney Pam Bondi in May 2025 noted that Trump's name was in the files alongside "many other high-profile figures." However, the DOJ and FBI have noted that no "client list" or evidence tying Trump to Esptein's trafficking crimes has been found.
Trump and Esptein were also known to be close from the late 1980s to early 2000s. The two attended parties and were photographed together. The two reportedly had a falling out around 2004, and Trump has maintained that he has had no contact with Epstein after that.
While appearing in the files does not necessarily indicate wrongdoing, Trump's friendship and past affiliation with the convicted s*x offender has led to conspiracy theories that the government is withholding documents that could potentially reveal embrassing infromation about high-profile individuals.
