Rapper Tyler The Creator seems to be under fire from netizens. He recently liked a post on X, which, according to Kurrco, said that his fan following disliked black music, despite his being appreciative of it. The post mentioning him said:

“Ni**a has charlie wilson, erykah badu, dj drama etc. collaborations and they still refuse to engage with black art on any meaningful level. very cannibalistic.”

Amid all these, a few of his X posts (formerly Twitter) resurfaced on the platform. One of Tyler The Creator's posts from February 2014 said:

“I HATE BLACK HISTORY MONTH. WHY THE F*CK DO YOU HAVE TO F*CKING SEPERATE NI**AS STILL. 'OH ITS PAYING HOMAGE TO OUR HEROS' F*CK THAT.”

Similarly, he shared another tweet from August 18, 2014, which noted:

“AND BLACK PEOPLE ARE CURRENTLY MAD RIGHT NOW BUT IN 2 WEEKS WILL BE OVER IT CAUSE THEY REALLY DONT CARE, COOL HASHTAG THO RIGHT?”

On January 26, 2014, Tyler The Creator wrote an X post, seeming to criticize black people for certain activities. The post read:

“DONT TRUST THOSE RANDOM BLACK DUDES WITH THE FADE AND NAPPY NATURAL BUMMY ALMOST DREADS SH*T AT THE TOP, THEY LIKE EVERYTHING.”

The rapper also penned a heartfelt tribute to singer D’Angelo in a lengthy Instagram post following his death on October 14. Tyler, The Creator revealed that when he was just nine years old, he spent his birthday money on D’Angelo’s album Voodoo — a purchase that would go on to shape his love for music. He recalled spending countless hours listening to the record, mimicking D’Angelo’s vocals, and writing songs inspired by his style.

Tyler said the album felt deep, personal, and powerful, and that D’Angelo was a true musical genius. He felt lucky to have grown up with his music and said he would always be grateful for the influence it had on him.

Tyler The Creator discusses people being weird on the internet

In 2024, Tyler The Creator sat down for a conversation on the Mavericks with Mav Carter show. When asked what gave him the most joy, he said music. Carter reminded that the rapper had previously said that he got tired of making music. Commenting on that, Tyler said that it was mostly because of the people who get on his nerves, referring to the internet culture. He said:

“All these f*cking kids, the internet, bro. These kids hack everything and like listen to the music. They want to know who your sister is and like what you ate for dinner. Like, mind your f*cking business. Go the f*ck outside and listen to the damn art or the music.”

Tyler The Creator felt that netizens often overlooked personal boundaries. He encountered incidents of fans reaching his doorstep and hacking accounts. Sometimes, they even disturbed his family members, which he disliked.

He felt that his fans could love his songs, but shouldn't give them the hall ticket to go to such lengths. He said being a fan didn’t mean someone could be disrespectful or creepy and told people to calm down.
