Vin Diesel announced a new development for Fast & Furious fans, while his career stays in high gear. Appearing onstage at Fuel Fest in Pomona, California, the 57-year-old star confirmed that Paul Walker’s character, Brian O’Conner, will return for the franchise’s grand finale. The film is set to hit theaters in April 2027. And yes, that means Diesel’s beloved Dom Toretto will reunite with his on-screen brother, 12 years after Walker’s tragic death.

Wearing a black tee that read “Fast X Part 2 Los Angeles Production 2025,” Vin Diesel addressed the crowd with a theatrical flair worthy of his long-running franchise.

“The studio said to me, ‘Vin, can we please have the finale of Fast and Furious in April 2027?’” he told fans. “I said, ‘Under three conditions.’ First, is to bring the franchise back to L.A.! The second thing was to return to the car culture, to the street racing! The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O’Conner.”

And with that, the franchise, which has earned over $7.2 billion worldwide, prepares for its next chapter (Box Office Mojo). Diesel’s announcement honored Paul Walker’s legacy and renewed attention on his own career achievements. According to Celebrity Net Worth, the actor-turned-producer currently has an estimated fortune of $225 million, attributed to business deals, creative control, and his work on the Fast & Furious franchise.

Vin Diesel’s Hollywood story didn’t start with nitrous and tank tops. Born Mark Sinclair, he broke into the industry with his 1994 short film Multi-Facial. It led to a small role in Saving Private Ryan — and eventually to his breakout turn as Dominic Toretto in 2001’s The Fast and the Furious. Moreover, his financial success extends beyond acting. Diesel founded One Race Films, producing many of the franchise’s later hits and negotiating backend deals that gave him a piece of the profits.

He continues to secure major earnings. Between June 2019 and June 2020, Vin Diesel earned $55 million, owing largely to a $20 million upfront salary for F9 and his share of its backend profits, according to Celebrity Net Worth. In earlier years, he banked $47 million in 2015 alone from Furious 7, which grossed $1.5 billion globally. Diesel also voiced Groot in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. He also owns Tigon Studios, a video game company where he provides voice and motion capture for all releases.

In a lesser-known move, Diesel made a 60-second cameo in the 2006 film in exchange for ownership rights to the Riddick franchise. That decision proved successful when 2013’s Riddick grossed $100 million on a $40 million budget.
