Actor Wagner Moura became the first Brazilian to win the Golden Globe award for best actor in a drama film. According to People Magazine and Variety, he received the award for his role in Kleber Mendonça Filho’s The Secret Agent. In his acceptance speech, Moura said:

“Thank you, Golden Globes, my fellow nominees, you are extraordinary actors. I share this with you. Thank you very much. Thank you, Neon, my team. Thank you for your friendship. Kleber Mendonça Filho brother, you are a genius and you are my brother and I thank you for this and for many more other things. Thank you very much.”

Speaking about the film, Wagner Moura went on to say:

“The Secret Agent is a film about memory or the lack of memory and generational trauma. I think that if trauma can be passed along generations, values can too. So, this is to the ones that are sticking with their values in difficult moments to son to our kids to our life together. I love you very much.”

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Wagner Moura has a net worth of $10 million. In an interview with ExtraTV at the award ceremony, the actor said that it was difficult for him to describe the moment when his name was announced. He said he couldn’t even recall his walk from his table to the stage. Speaking about his acceptance speech, he said:

“I remember that I was told that the speech had to be under 30 seconds and I was like that's impossible. So, I was kind of thinking like preparing a speech in my mind like to be very as fast as I could, as quick as possible.”

Wagner Moura on the history-making moment and the drink of his choice

When asked who was watching the award ceremony from his home, Wagner Moura said that Brazil was watching it. Besides, he said his sons were also watching. He said:

“All Brazilians are right now screaming at the television which is beautiful because it's a connection that's beautiful to see of Brazilians with their culture with their cinema with their films. It's amazing.”

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, he said that he had a rush of emotions. The interviewer reiterated how he made history. Wagner Moura said:

“Like to have you know so many people like connected to what we're doing to this film to what to their culture actually connected to their culture seeing themselves in their films in their books in their theater, in their cultural production, that's a very important thing for the development of that country. So, that's beautiful.”

When asked about his plans for the night, Wagner Moura said that he would like to celebrate with some drinks. The interviewer asked about the drink of his choice, and he said that he was drinking Sake at the table and thought that it could be “dangerous.” So, he stopped. However, he said that he was in the mood for some cold beer because that felt “appropriate.”
