In 1997, Amanda Peet played a guest role in the 20th episode of the eighth season of the 1989 sitcom Seinfeld. However, almost three decades down the line, the actress looked back on her guest role in the series.
On May 23, 2025, Peet and Elizabeth Banks appeared on the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen show. One segment of the show included rating their past projects. Andy Cohen said that, in the episode of Seinfeld, Amanda Peet portrayed a waitress who was linked with one of the characters, Jerry.
When asked how the episode turned out, the actress inquired if she had to rate the episode or the experience. Cohen said it was up to her. Reflecting on her time in the show, Peet said:
“That was a rough one for me. I had a lot of stage fright. I am going to give it like a five.”
Andy Cohen responded:
“Right. It was hard.”
This wasn’t the first time she talked about her role in the sitcom. In 2020, Amanda Peet caught up with Andy Cohen on the After Show. Cohen said he watched her Seinfeld guest appearance. When asked what her day was like on that set, the actress replied:
“I was just sh*tting in my pants. I was sh*tting in my pants because I was so scared of Jerry Seinfeld.”
She went on:
“I was so intimidated and I could barely speak.”
She explained that she played a woman Jerry was interested in dating. However, each time he showed up to see her, she was wearing only a towel and was with another man who was said to be her roommate.
Amanda Peet on working in Your Friends & Neighbors and Togetherness
Amanda Peet acted in the crime series, Your Friends & Neighbors, released in 2025. Speaking to Abe Friedtanzer from Awards Buzz in April 2025, the actress reflected on her character Mel Cooper, saying she was glad the character broke the usual mold.
According to her, middle-aged or older divorced women are often portrayed, typically shown as lonely, drinking wine, and feeling sorry for themselves. Instead, Mel was confident, s*xually empowered, caught between two attractive men, and living boldly, even doing things like keying cars.
Commenting on the show, Amanda Peet said:
“Everyone is suffering in this duplicity, like this double life. And I as a married person, I have been married for almost 20 years and every now and then I get this wave of like, ‘Wait do I really know you? What if I don't really know you?’ I love stories that have that as a conceit like what if that person is such a good faker.”
Reflecting on the 2015 show, Togetherness, Amanda Peet said the experience was meaningful. She described the cast and the working environment as something truly special.
She also felt fortunate to have Jay Duplass appear in her show, where they had the chance to switch roles, which she found especially touching.
