Charlie Cox shares the relationship his wife, Samantha Thomas, shares with their dog. The actor told PEOPLE in an exclusive that,
"My wife and our dog have a very effed-up relationship."
He further added, "They're way too close. Because I've been working a lot and I've been away, our dog has definitely replaced me in the family."
Though the Daredevil actor was joking, the reason the couple adopted their dog comes from his new project. Charlie is starring in the film Merv, opposite Zooey Deschanel, which is a story about how a couple reconnects after their breakup due to their dog Merv.
After working on the film, he and Thomas adopted their furry friend along with a goldfish. But Charlie Cox was not the only one, as Zooey also has some animal friends at home.
"I don't have a goldfish, but my cats do love tuna." The actress joked.
Charlie Cox and Samantha Thomas' relationship
Cox and Thomas got married in September 2018 and are parents to two children together, a daughter and a son. Both share a deep connection and history with Marvel. Charlie, of course, played the iconic character Daredevil, while Samantha has been the producer on several Marvel projects.
This January, Cox, who is English, also became a US citizen, now holding dual citizenship. The couple started dating in 2015, 10 years ago. A year later, he announced that he was having a child with Samantha. At a Fan Expo in Canada, he said,
"My girlfriend [was] pretty amused when I said I was going to Toronto a couple weeks before [the baby is due], by the way. And I went, 'So, keep your legs closed.'"
They got married two years later and in 2020 welcomed their son. Throughout their relationship, they went through career changes and opportunities as well. Samantha left Marvel in 2019 and announced this March on LinkedIn that she was "starting a new position as President, Film & Television at The Traveling Picture Show Company!"
While Charlie Cox, aside from playing Matt Murdock, played roles in Kin, in which Samantha was the executive producer, Treason and more.
