In the most recent news about the ex-couple, Drake Bell has filed for divorce from his estranged partner, Janet Von Schmeling, after she initially filed in 2023. Bell took the necessary measures to proceed with their divorce in Seminole County, Florida, on August 14. His manager, Juan José Rovirosa, told Entertainment Weekly in a statement:

“The process began back in 2023 when his wife filed citing irreconcilable differences.”

Rovirosa continued:

“At this stage, both of them are simply concluding that legal process. Their priority remains the safety and wellbeing of their son, and they are doing so from a place of love and respect — closing a beautiful chapter of their lives that now evolves into a different form of love and complicity, always centered on their child’s best interests.”

Bell’s lawyer added that:

“At this time, Mr. Bell and his wife would like privacy as they transition into this new phase of their life.”

Drake Bell and Janet Von Schmeling: A timeline

Drake Bell began dating Janet Von Schmeling in 2013. They were notoriously private about the life they were building together, and eventually married five years later in 2018.

The first time Bell confirmed their relationship occurred three years later in 2021, when he tweeted:

“In response to various rumors that are incorrect, we have been married for almost 3 years, and we are blessed to be parents of a wonderful son. Many thanks to all my fans around the world for their good wishes.”

Unfortunately, his tweet seemed more like a ploy to distract people from his legal troubles at the time, as he had just pleaded guilty to two criminal counts of attempted child endangerment.

Drake Bell continued to spiral, and things came to a head for the couple in 2022, when Bell was caught ‘huffing’ with his son Wyatt present in the car. This was the apparent last straw for the couple as Janet and Wyatt relocated to Florida shortly thereafter. At the time, she wrote the following on her social media:
