Elton John and his husband David Furnish, celebrate 20 years of their marriage, with both of them sharing sweet messages for each other.

Icon Elton John and David Furnish marked 20 years of marriage this Sunday, December 21 and shared wholesome messages for each other on social media.

Joh posted on Instagram, "Happy anniversary to my incredible husband, @davidfurnish. Today we celebrate 20 years since our civil partnership, 11 years of marriage, and many more years of happiness to come!" along with a throwback picture of the pair.

While Furnish posted,

"20 years ago today we were civil partnered. 11 years ago today we were wedded. Happy Anniversary to my magnificent husband @eltonjohn. I’m so grateful for the beautiful life we have built together 🙏🏻🚀❤️. Love you forever."

The two have had a fulfilling long long-lasting marriage, and in 2018, Furnish shared the secret behind such a relationship.

"Every Saturday we gave each other an anniversary card, because we met on a Saturday. So, we wrote down, in like a little card that you put next to the bed, 'Happy Anniversary.' And you write about the week that's passed and the week that's coming, and you connect, and you tell each other you love each other."

John and David entered into a civil partnership in December 2005, and officially tied the knot in the UK nine years later, in 2014, when same-sex marriage became legal. The two had first met at a mutual friend's dinner party in 1993 and had immediately hit it off. They went on their first date the very next day.

The two have expanded their family over the years. They welcomed their older son, Zachary, through surrogacy in 2010; he is now 14. The pair's younger son, Elijah, also came through surrogacy in 2013.
