The Two-time Academy Award-winning actress, Emma Stone, opens up about being a mother and what motherhood means to her in a recent Vogue interview for the September cover story.
The Vogue article titled 'The Weird and Wonderful World of Emma Stone' was published on August 11, 2025. During her interview, Emma Stone also made some rare comments about her 4-year-old daughter, Louise Jean.
Stone, who was named the highest-paid actress and declared as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2017 by Time Magazine, won her first Oscar for her role in Damien Chazelle's La La Land. She later bagged her second Academy Award for her role as Bella Baxter in Yorgos Lanthimos's fantasy comedy film, Poor Things. She won both Oscars in the Best Actress category.
However, Emma Stone, who shares her daughter, Louise Jean, with comedian and writer Dave McCary, got married to him in September 2020.
While talking about her daughter, Emma said:
"There’s nothing I feel luckier about. She’s the greatest gift of my life, for sure."
While talking about motherhood, the Superbad actress also shared that becoming a mother has impacted her professional life. Emma said:
"It’s streamlined everything. It’s a clichéd thing to say, but it changes everything. And simplifies everything."
When the Zombieland actress was asked if being a mother helped her emotionally when she was playing a character, Stone said:
“I do think it unlocks different things. I don’t know if it’s specifically that, but I feel everything I could possibly feel, because everything has exploded."
Emma Stone dedicated her second Academy Award to her daughter

According to People Magazine, Emma Stone dedicated her second Academy Award win for Poor Things to her daughter, Louise Jean, in 2024. During her acceptance speech, she said:
"I really just want to thank my family. My mom, my brother Spencer, my dad, my husband Dave, I love you so much."
Stone further added:
"And, most importantly, my daughter, who's gonna be 3 in three days and has turned our lives technicolor."
The Crazy Stupid Love actress also quoted a lyric from Taylor Swift's Bigger Than the Whole Sky song:
"I love you bigger than the whole sky, my girl."
When Emma and Dave's daughter, Louise, was born, a source informed People Magazine that:
"Emma and Dave have a great marriage and both wanted a child. They are a very grounded and private couple and were ready for a family. Emma is close to her family and good friends but not the type to flaunt her personal life."
The source further added:
"Dave respects that about her and is the same way. They have a great life together and support each other."
