Greta Gerwig and her husband, Noah Baumbach, turned heads during their red carpet date at the Venice International Film Festival.

The filmmaking duo walked the red carpet on Thursday, August 28, at the Lido di Venezia to commemorate the premiere of Jay Kelly, starring George Clooney. The film was written and directed by the Barbie hitmaker’s husband, 55.

Greta Gerwig sported a black dress with a sheer black overlay adorned with sparkling flowers. She slicked back her hair and kept her jewelry to a minimum. As for Baumbach, he opted for a classic black tuxedo and bowtie.

Grazia Magazine has reported that the pair met on Noah Baumbach’s 2010 film Greenberg. At the time, he was married to his first wife, Jennifer Jason Leigh. Their romance reportedly began three years later. Shortly after, they made things official and announced the birth of their son, Harold Ralph Gerwig Baumbach, in 2019.

The Hollywood Reporter published an article in December 2023 confirming that the two had tied the knot. At the time, they made it official at City Hall in New York. They have since welcomed another son.

People Magazine has reported that Jay Kelly marks the first time George Clooney has worked with Noah Baumbach. The latter co-wrote the film with actress Emily Mortimer, and alongside Clooney, it stars Adam Sandler, Laura Dern, Riley Keough, Billy Crudup, Grace Edwards, Stacy Keach, Isla Fisher, Patrick Wilson, Eve Hewson, Alba Rohrwacher, and Greta Gerwig as well.

Per the outlet, the pair last made their appearance at the Venice festival together in 2022. Per Grazia Magazine, at the time, they were supporting the premiere of the dark comedy film White Noise. Adapted from the 1985 Don DeLillo novel of the same name, Baumbach served as its director, while Greta Gerwig starred in it.

Noah Baumbach is most known for having directed Marriage Story, though he and his wife have made headlines in their own right. In 2019, Baumbach, who also contributed as a writer on Barbie, earned six Oscar nominations for Marriage Story and Little Women.

At the recent red carpet event, Baumbach brought along his son Rohmer, from his first marriage. Per People Magazine, the festival will take place from Aug. 27 to Sept. 6. As for Jay Kelly, it hits theaters on November 15, and by December 5, it will make its way to Netflix.
