Former YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul is scheduled to fight Gervonta "Tank" Davis in a boxing exhibition match in Miami on November 14. On September 22, a press conference for the bout took place at the Palladium in Manhattan, where both men gave their insight on the upcoming contest.

As is commonly the case, fireworks went off at the press conference with either fighter throwing jabs at the other in a series of escalating insults. At one point in the back and forth when the discrepancy regarding their weights was brought up (in Paul’s last fight, he was 60 pounds heavier than Gervonta), Paul hurled a jab directed towards Davis, and in reference to domestic abuse allegations levied on the boxer,

"With or without the ankle monitor on.”

This prompted Davis to hit back, calling his opponent Jake Paul "corny" and a “clown”.

Paul then doubled down,

"You want to see clowns?" Gervonta you're the f-----g clown. Any man who puts his hands on a woman is the clown."

Hopefully, the intensity of the verbal dialogue between the two men will translate into an exciting fight night come November.

Jake Paul vs Tank Davis - An Overview

As there is a natural size discrepancy between Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis, several special rules have been instated for this exhibition contest. Firstly, the fight is currently slated to go for 10 3 minute rounds, both fighters will be wearing 12 oz gloves, and neither man can weigh above 195 pounds on the day of the fight. This information was revealed by Nakisa Bidarian, Paul’s business partner.

On his mindset going into the exhibition, Jake Paul shared the following on where he thought he could find success in the contest,

"I would say a lot of things but first and foremost is going to be my reach and my size and just keeping him away. I think there are a lot of holes in his defence that a lot of people haven't exposed before. He's a great fighter - one of the best - and he's forcing me to elevate myself to new heights.”

Clearly, while Jake Paul believes he is on the path to victory, he still has a tremendous amount of respect for his opponent. Paul went on to say,

"I'm more locked in than ever but I know at the end of the day I'm going to come in and out-box the guy who has been boxing for seven times as long as me. What I've done in the sport is unprecedented and will never be replicated. I've done it in such a short amount of time and I'm just getting warmed up.”

Tank Davis had the following thoughts on his upcoming fight with Paul,

"I think it's going to be a great event. Every time I fight, it's fireworks Jake Paul is coming in, he's much bigger, much stronger, boxing wins come November 14. It's not just me and Jake going to put on a fight, it's a whole card, and we're just giving boxing what it needs and that's excitement."

Jake Paul looks to continue to strengthen his claim as a legitimate boxer in his upcoming matchup with Davis; only time will tell how both men’s gambles will pay off.
