Jenelle Evans' marriage to David Eason has officially ended, bringing an end to their rocky marriage, which has lasted for almost eight years. The divorce was finalized on Friday, July 11, 2025, more than a year after the couple's separation, but the settlement terms have left Evans with a significant financial burden.

Evans and Eason started dating in 2015 and married in September 2017, and welcomed their daughter, Ensley Jolie, in January 2018. Evans is also the mother of two sons: Jace, 16, with ex Andrew Lewis, and Kaiser, 11, with former fiancé Nathan Griffith.

Over the years, their relationship has made news for legal issues and public disagreements. Jenelle Evans temporarily lost custody of two of her children in May 2019 when Eason reportedly shot and killed their family dog, but she regained custody later in the year. The couple briefly separated in late 2019 before reuniting in early 2020, but problems remained.

The couple's official separation date was listed as February 16, 2024. Evans filed for permanent separation in March 2024, citing US Weekly that Eason's conduct had created a poisonous household atmosphere.

She said:

"His attitude that he had, putting everyone in a bad mood all the time. Everyone was walking on eggshells. I don’t have to stay together just because we have kids.”

Jenelle Evans described Eason's attitude as extremely draining, alleging he would say things like:

“Go kill yourself, your mother doesn’t even love you.”

Evans initially worried about handling life alone with three children, but after coming to Las Vegas, she came to enjoy her freedom. Speaking about this, she said:

"For the longest time I was just so nervous. Can I do this on my own? Can I take care of these three kids by myself? Will they listen to me without a male figure around?'"

Jenelle Evans' legal process, divorce settlement and life after

Under North Carolina law, spouses must live apart for at least a year and a day before filing for an "absolute divorce." Evans filed for divorce in May 2025, and the following month, she had a "divorce party" in New York City to celebrate.

Jenelle Evans told E! News:

"I filed for absolute divorce. So, fingers crossed, just waiting on paperwork to be signed, and then I'll have my last name back."

The final settlement, confirmed in August 2025, had sustained financial terms like payments of $30,000 or more to David Eason will sent to his lawyer in monthly installments until completed, Evans is entirely liable for paying the North Carolina Department of Revenue's debt of $40,000, and finally she must pay the outstanding $138,920 mortage on their North Caroline home.

Jenelle Evans told US Weekly:

“Unfortunately, North Carolina is a 50/50 state and even though I paid for the majority of our assets, they had to be divided regardless. Prenups should be more accepted into society in my opinion… I’m happy to close this chapter for good.”

Evans claims that life has become more tranquil following the separation. She told E! News:

“It felt really good to finally sever that relationship. I did everything that I could. But ultimately, everybody was butting heads with David.”

She mentioned that her children adjusted that her children adjusted nicely to the changes. Her sons were reported to be relieved, but Ensley's attitude was neutral. Moving to Las Vegas provided Evans a "fresh start" with fewer fights and reduced family stress levels.

Moving forward

While Eason has recently begun a relationship with Kenleigh Heatwole, Evans is focused on personal development and career opportunities. She has hinted at television projects as she plans a Teen Mom-themed cruise, and has shown interest in starting a cannabis business. Jenelle said:

"I feel like I wasted so much time trying to fix that relationship that I could have done a lot more with my life and my time."

Jenelle Evans posted a selfie of herself and the papers on Instagram on 30 July 2025, celebrating her divorce:

“Now I can breathe 👏🏻🎉. Went through our assets and came to a settlement, ladies please don’t ever put anything in anyone else’s name but your own. The battle is over! 😭🙈 #LessonLearned #Divorced.”

Jenelle Evans told US Magazine about her new life and how exciting her life is looking to be:

“It took a little time to get used to, but now I’m enjoying my alone time. I’m feeling great because I’m taking the time to heal for myself and taking this time to be alone.”
