John Cena, who married Shay Shariatzadeh in 2020, opened up about his wife in a rare interview. John Cena, in his interview with Extra TV, opened up about how much his wife means to him, in response to a question about whether acting would now be his number one passion following his retirement from WWE. To which he replied:

"My number one passion is my wife."

The above comments come to light as John Cena recently announced that he is retiring from WWE later this year, and is currently gearing up for the release of his next movie, Heads of State, which also stars Idris Elba, Priyanka Chopra, Jack Quaid, among others.

John Cena was seen attending the New York premiere of his next movie, Heads of State, at the Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center with his wife, Shay Shariatzadeh. During his interview with Extra TV, he added that despite retiring from WWE, his first priority will not be focusing on his acting career, as it will always be his wife. He said:

"Absolutely, that is first on the list. I'd say right behind that is my health so I can be the best husband to my wife.”

John Cena, who married Shay Shariatzadeh in a private ceremony on October 12, 2020, also talked about his potential future movie roles in his interview. He said:

"I know how hard it is to get any sort of role. I saw some footage today, which was one of my first roles as a background actor and man, it really warmed my heart. I don't carry any guilt or shame when I see that, because I got to be on screen, I got to learn a little bit about the business. It allowed me to reflect on how far I've come, so, gosh, I just want to make the most of the chances that people take on me."

According to Men's Journal, John Cena had previously in his conversation with Howard Stern, talked about how he had met Shay Shariatzadeh, who is an engineer, while visiting a restaurant in Vancouver. He said:

"So I got a picture with her, and then she brought by my wife-to-be over, we have our first fan photo, which we hang proudly where we hang our hats. It's awesome. I asked her for her number and she gave me her number, and I didn't wait like the two days [to reach out]. I left the restaurant and on my walk home I [texted], 'It was so nice to meet you, you're beautiful, I'd like to get to know you more if you have any free time coming up I'll make time for you.' She's like, 'You want to go out this weekend?' I said, 'Sure.'"

In his interview with Extra TV on June 24, the Argylle actor also looked back on his time at WWE, and said:

"This is my final year in the WWE. I'm retiring this year. We're about halfway through, so I look forward to officially closing the book on in-ring competition. I will forever be an ambassador of the WWE. I'll be part of that family till they ask me to leave."

John Cena's next movie, Heads of State, is an action thriller that is set to release on Amazon Prime next month, on July 2.
