Kate Hudson, best known for the 2003 rom-com, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, recently spoke about not rushing to get married to her fiancé of 3 years, Danny Fujikawa. The actress also shared that she likes the idea of just 'staying engaged'.
On March 3, 2025, in an episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, while talking about her engagement, Barrymore asked Hudson if 'she would ever just stay engaged', to which the actress replied,
I like the idea of being engaged forever...It’s like the contractual thing is tough for me. I like my freedom and I don’t like to be like I like the concept of freedom and so like this thing when like you’re signing the government contract to me just my own thing is like probably why, well, I was raised by Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russel who never signed the contract(…)they’ve been engaged since I was seven.
However, she also did not completely dismiss the idea of marriage as she shared that though she is not too excited about the wedding planning, she loves the idea of a promise ceremony. She also joked that she wants a gravy boat and hence is in a dilemma.

The couple was private, initially. According to Cosmopolitan, Hudson and Fujikawe's relationship became public in March 2017, when they were spotted kissing in Los Angeles. Their red carpet debut as a couple happened in May 2017, as the duo appeared on the red carpet at the premiere of Snatched (which features Hudson's mother, Goldie Hawn).
In April 2018, Hudson announced via an Instagram post that she and Fujikawa were expecting their first child by sharing a clip from the gender reveal party. Hudson also has two other children, Ryder Russell Robinson (with ex-husband Chris Robinson) and Bingham Hawn Bellamy (with Matt Bellamy).
