Comedian Katherine Ryan was first diagnosed with skin cancer in 2004, when she was a student in Toronto. However, while speaking on her podcast Telling Everybody Everything in March 2025, Ryan confirmed that she had been diagnosed with skin cancer a second time after tests showed that a mole was "early melanoma."

Ryan confirmed to Hello! Magazine, in an article published on March 4, that she is expecting her fourth child with Bobby Kootstra, with whom she has been in a civil partnership since 2019. Katherine confirmed the news by flaunting a baby bump on her Instagram story in a silky red and white lace dress.

Katherine Ryan is mom to three children, two with husband Bobby, son Fred, 3, and daughter Fenna, 2, and a 15-year-old Violet from a previous relationship.

Ryan has been vocal about her fertility struggles and, in 2024, revealed that she had three miscarriages in five years. In November 2024, Ryan said,

"I'm old. I used to think I was going to be the babies' dad because I'm working but actually I'm like their grandmother. My back hurts, sometimes I give them treats. I'm like a fun grandma."

More about Katherine Ryan's cancer diagnosis

Earlier, while speaking on her podcast, Telling Everybody Everything, comedian Katherine Ryan revealed that she recently had a cancerous mole on her arm removed and will have to go through a further procedure to ensure that it is all gone.

"If you know about melanoma, you'll know it is a deadly form of skin cancer. It does spread quickly, and I just felt like this mole wasn't right."

Katherine Ryan revealed that while her doctor assured her that the mole was not melanoma, it "kept changing," which raised her concerns. Later, the doctor called her back and confirmed that the mole was, in fact, melanoma. Ryan's doctor informed her that it had been caught "very early," and he doubted if it had spread.

Ryan revealed that it was her "own advocate" and concerns that made her get double-checked, leading to the diagnosis. Ryan also added that the "whole reason" she was reminded to "go back" to the doctor's office was because she had seen Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddi Mellencamp talk about her own melanoma.

Ryan expressed gratitude to Mellencamp for being "so transparent" about her journey. While speaking on her podcast, Ryan urged her listeners to find the time to get themselves checked for health concerns.
