Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s relationship began under the glow of Hollywood lights, when the pair were spotted mingling at the Golden Globes after-parties in January 2016. The couple parted ways briefly in March the following year, but by February 2018, they were back together.
Us Weekly reported that Orlando Bloom popped the question on Valentine’s Day in 2019. Just over a year later, in March 2020, Perry shared that she was expecting their first child. Their daughter, Daisy Dove, was born in August that year. Bloom also shares parenting duties with Miranda Kerr for their son, Flynn.
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom reportedly call it quits
A decade-long love story may have reached its final chapter. Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have officially split, according to a source who spoke with Us Weekly.
The breakup, while emotional, hasn’t been acrimonious. The insider shared:
“Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable, it’s not contentious at the moment, Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.”
The source added that the separation had been a slow build, with growing tension between them for months. The couple, who share a four-year-old daughter named Daisy, had reportedly been living apart ever since Perry set out on her Lifetimes tour.
While she’s been on the road, Perry kept herself busy and even listed her Westcott Estate in Montecito for rent.
“But her and Orlando have always lived in their other Montecito home as their primary residence,” the source noted.
The source added that they once intended to make the Westcott property their long-term family home, but plans that have now shifted.
As Katy Perry’s Lifetimes Tour kept her on the move since April, Orlando Bloom was spotted spending more time on his own. A second insider told Us Weekly that while Bloom kept his feelings under wraps, distance had become a growing issue between them.
“Katy has been very busy working, and they are apart often, that has caused tension,” the source explained.
Despite being engaged for six years, the couple never locked in a wedding date or made serious plans, according to the insider.
“Orlando is ‘over it,’” the source added.
In an April 2024 interview on Trevor Noah’s What Now? podcast, Bloom offered a glimpse into the emotional complexity of balancing their relationship with the demands of fame.
“I wouldn’t change it for anything, even when sometimes it feels like, ‘How do we do this?’” he said, and added: “Because we’ve got these two giant careers and lives — and hers is even … it’s like a universe sometimes.”
Still, he ended on a hopeful note:
“But I think I just keep coming back to her and trying to hold her hand and walk her back to the sand pit and be like… we’re just gonna build a sandcastle.”
