Renowned Italian actress and model Monica Bellucci and veteran director Tim Burton are currently making headlines following their split. The popular couple broke the news of their split in a joint statement released on September 19, 2025. The 60-year-old Monica Bellucci and the 67-year-old Tim Burton first sparked dating rumors and got together romantically in October 2023. After continuing their relationship for almost two years, they decided to separate.

Monica Bellucci, who began her career as a fashion model, eventually transitioned to acting in 1991. While she made her acting debut in an Italian television film called Vita coi figli, Bellucci slowly became quite famous not only in the Italian film industry but also in the French and American film industries.

The Malena star, Monica Bellucci, was previously married to the French actor Vincent Cassel, with whom she shares daughters, Deva and Léonie. Bellucci and Cassel tied the knot in 1999 and got divorced in 2013. However, according to AFP (Agence France-Presse), Monica and Tim's joint statement regarding their split read:

"It is with much respect and deep care for each other that Monica Bellucci and Tim Burton have decided to part ways."

The Irréversible actress, Monica Bellucci, first came across Burton in 2006 at the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. While it was a short meeting at the time, the two once again met and reconnected in 2022 at the Lumière Festival in France. Soon, there were rumors of them dating, as they were spotted roaming around arm-in-arm in Madrid, Spain. However, the former couple made their romantic relationship public in October 2023. Monica Bellucci, in a June 2023 interview with Elle France, regarding Burton, said:

"What I can say … I’m glad I met the man, first of all. It's one of those encounters that rarely happens in life ... I know the man, I love him and now I'm going to meet the director — another adventure begins."

Before getting into a romantic relationship with Monica Bellucci, Tim Burton was in a 13-year relationship, between 2001 and 2014, with the Fight Club actress Helena Bonham Carter.

They worked together in a bunch of films, including Dark Shadows, Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and several others. While they were never officially married, Carter called their split a "divorce". During the Therapy Works podcast in 2022, Helena said:

"I went through a very painful divorce. It was a long-lasting thing. That's the other thing, it's not that finite. It never ends. Even if you divorce somebody, it's a kind of marriage if you have children with them. The relationship has to change. It's a very complicated thing how to share the children."
