Party of Five alum Scott Wolf and wife Kelley Wolf have announced that they are parting ways after over two decades of marital life. Wolf and his team shared the news in a statement with PEOPLE,
“After 21 years of marriage, I have made the most difficult decision of my life, and filed for divorce from my wife Kelley. Our children have always been, and continue to be, the loves of our lives and our every priority, so I kindly ask for privacy at this time as we help guide them through this new chapter."
Wolf’s ex-wife Kelley made the announcement on social media via her Instagram account. Alongside an image of a lioness, surrounded by soaring eagles in an open field, she shared a detailed message about Scott and her hopes for the next chapter of her life. She began her statement saying,
"It is with a heavy heart that Scott and I are moving forward with the dissolution of our marriage."
The split comes just weeks after the couple's 21st wedding anniversary.
Scott Wolf and wife Kelley Wolf headed for divorce - Relationship timeline
In 2000, Kelley appeared on MTV's The Real World: New Orleans. Scott Wolf and Kelley met for the first time in 2002, and eventually married two years later in 2004. They welcomed the first of their two sons Jackson Kayse into the world in 2009, before his brother Miller was born in 2012. The couple’s only daughter Lucy was born 2 years later in 2014. Prior to his relationship with Kelley, Scott Wolf was engaged to Alyssa Milano in 1993, but the pair split before tying the knot.
One year ago, Kelley took to Instagram to share the story of how the couple nearly called it quits in a post celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary. Even then, she commended her husband Scott Wolf’s efforts in making things work,
“He said, ‘You are really going to leave. I believe you. I can see it. I can feel it. And there is no chance in hell I am going to let that happen, so let’s do this.”
The pair seem to have made a concerted effort to reconcile, but it seemingly was not in the cards for the Wolfs.
In the Instagram post announcing the couple’s divorce, it should also be noted that Kelley did not cast any stones. Conversely, she spoke glowingly of Wolf as a father figure to their children, and as a partner during the time they were married,
“Scott Wolf is one of the best fathers I’ve ever known and one of the best partners a woman could have the privilege of sharing life with. He is kind, thoughtful, funny, and beautiful in spirit. We both look forward to an extraordinary life centered around the most extraordinary children.”
In a final attempt to request for privacy in these difficult times, Kelley closed the message by saying,
“May we all remember: healing isn’t loud. It’s sacred.”
Scott Wolf has not yet spoken publicly about the couple’s separation at this time.
