The First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump's life has seen much speculation and conversations, ahead and after the 2025 Presidential Inauguration that established Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States. The former model is now the subject of a highly anticipated documentary by Brett Ratner, that will explore the FLOTUS and her days around the 2025 Presidential Elections, offering unprecedented access to one of the most historical moments of America.

Brought to the audience by Amazon, the documentary will exclusively open in theaters on January 30, 2026, after which it will be available on Prime Video accompanied by a three-episode docuseries. The streaming platform has reportedly paid $40 million for the package, and Melania is listed as one of the executive producers for the project.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the documentary's official logline reads,

Melania offers unprecedented access to the 20 days leading up to the 2025 Presidential Inauguration — through the eyes of the First Lady-elect herself. Step inside Melania Trump’s world as she orchestrates inauguration plans, navigates the complexities of the White House transition, and reenters public life with her family. With exclusive footage capturing critical meetings, private conversations, and never-before-seen environments, Melania showcases Mrs. Trump’s return to one of the world’s most powerful roles.”

More details about Melania Trump's documentary

Amazon’s upcoming Melania Trump documentary is already stirring up conversation before a single frame has dropped. The streaming giant confirmed that filming began in December 2024, marking the first time Melania has opened her world to cameras since leaving Washington.

Billed as offering “unprecedented behind-the-scenes” access, the documentary will follow Melania’s return to the White House as First Lady once again. It’s also her first major public project since her bestselling memoir Melania and her digital photography series chronicling the 2024 campaign.

The documentary’s existence also highlights a dramatic thaw between Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and President-elect Donald Trump. After years of mutual criticism, Amazon has pledged $1 million to Trump’s inauguration fund, and Bezos’ choice to keep The Washington Post politically neutral has caused internal fallout.

Then there’s the director himself. Ratner, best known for Rush Hour and X-Men: The Last Stand, hasn’t directed since 2017, when multiple women accused him of sexual misconduct. Ratner has denied the claims, but his inclusion signals a controversial comeback.

We don’t know exactly how deep the documentary will go. Will it tackle controversies during Donald Trump’s first term, or personal struggles? Or will it remain surface-level, focusing on transitions, family, image, and private life? The “unprecedented access” promise is tantalizing but nebulous until we see the finished product.

The untitled Melania Trump documentary will be in theaters on January 30, 2026.
