Ruben Fleischer's Now You See Me: Now You Don’t is already a franchise record breaker as it premiered with the hottest reviews among the franchise's three films, and before the theatrical run for the film is even close to being over, Flesicher is already cooking up a release date for the sequel. It was previously announced in April that a fourth film will be made, following Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, with Flesicher returning to direct. Now, days after release, we have more details about the release date too.
The director spoke to Variety about when the fourth film might come to fruition, while also revealing how he knew that Lionsgate would go for a fourth movie, as he said,
"When we were done shooting, they started to talk about it. I guess they’d seen a lot of the dailies and were feeling good about it and had the confidence to move forward. We’re working on the script now, and hopefully that’ll be ready so we can make it next year."
He then talked about what inspired him to take up the film as he added,
“"Now You See Me” came out after “Zombieland” and stars two of our leads, Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson. So naturally, I was curious about it when it came out and saw it in theaters. I was so enamored of the caper, the charm of the cast, all of it. It was true entertainment. I had made three movies with Jesse and three movies with Woody prior to “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t,” so I think it was a natural fit when they were looking for a director for the third installment."
Ruben Fleischer will now return to direct the untitled Now You See Me 4 after Now You See Me: Now You Don’t.
More details about Now You See Me: Now You Don’t
Now You See Me: Now You Don't slides into theaters in 2025 as the third chapter in the slick, flashy heist franchise, directed by Fleischer and shaped by a screenplay from Michael Lesslie, Paul Wernick, Rhett Reese, and Seth Grahame-Smith. The story originates from ideas by Eric Warren Singer and Lesslie and follows Now You See Me 2 from 2016 and continues the series with a familiar lineup joined by some new faces. Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Isla Fisher, Lizzy Caplan, and Morgan Freeman return, while Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, Ariana Greenblatt, and Rosamund Pike join the chaos. It is also the first film in the series made without Michael Caine after his retirement.
The film has received positive reviews so far, with critics particularly praising it's improvement in comparison to the predecessors. With a fourth film in store helmed by the same director, the franchise is going steady.
