Lisa Jakub, who rose to fame after starring as Lydia Hillard in Chris Columbus' 1993 comedy-drama Mrs. Doubtfire, has been away from Hollywood for quite some time now as she pursued a different career. Jakub has not only starred in successful movies like Mrs. Doubtfire but has also been part of blockbusters such as Roland Emmerich's 1996 sci-fi action film Independence Day.
46-year-old Lisa Jakub, originally from Toronto, Canada, is currently residing in Virginia's Charlottesville, according to her LinkedIn profile. The '90s child star, after her Hollywood fame, stayed away from the spotlight and found a new vocation.
The once-popular and successful actress, as per her LinkedIn profile, has become a professional yoga instructor (at O2X Human Performance). She is the director of Mission Flexible, a chain of mindfulness retreats meant for military veterans who suffer from PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder).
Not to mention, Jakub, who is also an author, has been married to Jeremy Jones since 2005. The Matinee actress might have been away from the spotlight, but she is quite active on social media platforms like Instagram. According to The US Sun, when an online news outlet ran a breaking story about her with a headline that read "Once-popular child stars who completely vanished," Lisa Jakub was quick enough to clap back and respond with a severely critical Instagram post.
The Bermuda Triangle actress took to Instagram and shared a post that read:
"Big news, everyone. I've just found out that I have 'completely vanished'. Was it my current lack of popularity that made me vanish? I'm not sure how I was able to evaporate entirely (have I been a wizard all along?), but as soon as we have more information, I'm sure this publication will let you know."
Lisa Jakub acknowledged her new "normal" life in a blog on her official website

The Independence Day actress, Lisa Jakub, as per reports, quit acting at the age of 22. She got to a point when she realized acting was not fulfilling enough for her, as she wanted to pursue something more authentic. She did not appreciate the way Hollywood functioned, as it was too complicated for her. Not to mention, she did not want to end up like several other famous child actors who became addicts and faced other serious issues down the line.
From a successful child star to now a yoga specialist, author, and mental wellness expert, Jakub acknowledges her new "normal" life in a blog on her website. The Mrs. Doubtfire actress wrote:
"Hello, my name is Lisa Jakub. But most people in a restaurant/dentist’s office/yoga studio dressing room, call me 'Hey, you look like that girl from Mrs. Doubtfire/Independence Day/Matinee'".
She continued saying:
"There is a good reason for that. I am that girl. More accurately, I was that girl. Or maybe I always will be her. A couple of decades later, I’m still trying to work that part out."
Lisa further added:
"These days, I’m an author, speaker, workshop leader, yoga teacher, and a happily retired actor."
While Lisa Jakub admitted to spending a decade running away from her previous life, she stated that it was "awkward" when people identified her.
