Late filmmaker Rob Reiner's son, Nick Reiner, is being held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility, which had previously held Paris Hilton, Harvey Weinstein, and Robert Downey Jr. People on January 5 exclusively confirmed that, as per a Los Angeles County Sheriff source, Nick is no longer on suicide watch at the Correctional Facility.

Nick had entered the jail system on the morning of December 15 after he was charged with two counts of first-degree murder of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner. Nick Reiner was arrested in Los Angeles and appeared in court on December 17. At the facility, Nick is not permitted to communicate with anyone other than his legal counsel and authorized jail personnel. The source, while reasoning the need to monitor Nick, said,

"This is important so that no one compromises this high-profile case, and so that no civilian or inmate can ask him questions, such as why he killed his parents."

The source also added,

"Nick is still housed alone and monitored every 15 minutes, and is still considered to have mental health issues. Reiner is currently off suicide watch but remains in HOH (mental health) housing. He's in one of the two towers for mental health. When he leaves his cell, he is escorted by a deputy and is still being reocrded."

Doctors and mental health professionals have determined that Nick Reiner has a "mental disability."

How is Nick Reiner associated with his parents' murders?

As per The New York Times, Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner's bodies were discovered by their daughter Romy, after she went to their Los Angeles home after she received a call from a massage therapist who was unable to gain access to the property.

After arriving at the property and discovering Rob's body, Romy allegedly fled the location and was later informed by the paramedic that her mother, Michele, was also found dead inside. This comes after Nick, Rob, and Michele attended Conan O'Brien's Christmas Party and reportedly got into a heated argument there.

Currently, Nick Reiner is being held in solitary confinement and is required to wear a yellow jail-issued shirt and blue pants. He doesn't have to wear the suicide -prevention smock he was required to wear at all times earlier.

According to the sheriff's source, Nick will not be released from High Observation Housing (HOH) unless a judge or a court hearing determines otherwise, and will be monitored and housed alone.
